School Holiday fun!
So here's a really quick and simple idea that i did this past week with my kids on school holidays!
Take some refelx paper and stamp three skulls from the fabulously funky Ink by Steph 'In My Dreams' set in the top right hand corner of the page. Tear the goodness out of the edges and ink with a brown ink pad. 'Dirty' the page up by lightly running the ink pad through the middle.
Then just fill it in by adding your own adventure destinations to your treasure map! To ours, we added bear cave (where the kids hid under a big wooden desk), a volcano (a fixed wooden step ladder over which we draped a big yellow blanket), a wibbly wobbly bridge (a big body pillow that they had to walk along balancing) and the wild animals den. Don't forget to add a big 'X' to mark the spot where the treasure is!
Here are my kids with their maps:
We took time to set the scene up....
Once the maps were rolled up and finished, I narrated the story and the kids acted it out.
It wasn't without it's dramas (liji had a massive meltdown and stayed in his room for the remainder- don't think its all craft and roses at my place! lol!!!!!) but we continued on and the other kids found their buried *treasure* in the chest....
wooohoooo! it's afternoon tea time!
We are a family all about life's simple little pleasures and mixing craft with imaginative play on a cold mountain's day in the school holidays is a real recipe for fun!
Arrrgh (in my best pirate voice) happy creating!

Lusi what a perfect way to use the stamp. Such fun for the kids. This would work well for a kids birthday party.

Loved it! What a wonderful idea for school holidays, especially in wet weather.
~We could have really used this idea during the last school holidays, when it rained 13 days out of 16 days here in Sydney!
