Have you ever taken a photo and just known that it would stay in your list of favourites for a long time? Every so often I'll look through my photos in Picasa and those favourite photos just seem to jump out, reminding me of good times and making me smile.
That's how it is with this photo.
Only I didn't even take this one myself. It was taken by my friend Ingeborg and holds so many special memories of my trip to Australia last year. On my first morning there I'd woken early (still on NZ time) and gone out for a walk while the sun was still rising. The sights and sounds seemed so surreal and yet I was really there ... only I'd forgotten to grab my camera so couldn't take a picture of the moment. I was just lucky that Ingeborg had also been out walking at the same time ... with her camera ... and she was kind enough to share her photos with me.
The second part of today's inspiration is that of your favourite quote. For me it's a very tricky thing to pinpoint. I'm always reading quotes and thinking 'ooh that's a good one!' My favourite for this week may not be the same as my favourite next week.
Seeing with new eyes was important to me last week, so this quote about 'the real voyage of discovery' became a favourite of the moment. It seemed to perfectly express what I was thinking.
I like inspirational quotes, I love the way quotes can sum up what I'm thinking in such a perfectly succinct way and I like how a simple quote can be the perfect accompaniment for a photo on a page.
If you are looking for the perfect quote to fit on your layout there are many web sites which make searching easy. I find The Quote Garden an easy site to search. I also love Kobi Yamada's 'She' quotes ... lot's of these could easily be listed as my favourites!
So ... what are your favourites? Do you have a particular photo or quote that keeps coming back for attention, something that defines who you are or has special meaning for you?
