Hi and welcome to the monthly challenge for May – Using the decorative edges on your templates.
I love borders or decorative edges of any sort (my all time favourites are scallops, scallops and more scallops) and the Fiskars templates and the Ultra Shape Express make it so easy to create a beautiful edge or border effortlessly and there is such a lovely range of them.
In the layout below I have used 5 different template edges and used lots of bright patterned paper to mix and match the various layers.
Here are some idea to give your edges a bit more zing
• Use a gel pen and outline your edge (note the white pen I have used on the red and blue stripped papers) • Ink the edge to make it stand out some more to give it a shabby chic look (I’ve done this on the mini and large scallop edges)
• Stitch on top of the edge to give it some texture
• Place some bling along it following the shape of the edge or in the centre of your scallop
• Punch holes along your edge, this is a great look when punching a hole in the middle of your scallops
• Raise your edge with magic mount or raised foam dots
• Paint the edge with a complimentary paint colour
• Spray the edge with glimmer mist or similar
• Trace the edge with glitter glue
So your challenge is to grab the templates that you have in your stash at home (or rush out and shout yourself a few new ones) and use as many as you want on a layout, mini album or altered item (these edges look great on little houses as roof décor).
You have until 30th May to email to fiskarscraft@yahoo.com.au
Can’t wait to see what ideas you come up with and how many different edges you can manage to squeeze onto your project Tools Used Fiskars trimmer Fiskars templates Fiskars Ultrashape Express
