Fiskateer# 1110

Scrapping those Christmas pics

Has anyone else started to scrap their Christmas pics? Thought I'd make a start yesterday as it was such a scorcher here in the YARRA VALLEY...so I sat with the air-con on and finally scrapped my first Layout for 2011......PHEW!!  It sure felt good to get crafty again......other than make a Birthday Card for my great neice.....this is the only crafty thing I have created since Christmas!

It was lovely to sit and craft again.....in fact I was participating in the Fiskateer On-line Crop and gained such Inspiration from the Fiskateer Gallery.....it's loaded with creativity at the moment.....

It was nice to be able to use my Fiskars Limited Edition Holiday Punches...can you tell where they are?

The photo is of SAM (grandson),Sally and Brendan with Santa....Sam didn't enjoy having this pic taken I was told.....LOL! This pic is sooooooooooo Brendan and Sally....very relaxed and informal......thongs and all.....LOL!

Back to School

You can use your trusty fiskars tools, and a few of your craft supplies to customize and create items for school. That's right, summer is coming to an end and school is starting back up. To help you prepare the fiskars design team is here to share several great crafting ideas to send your child off to school in style!

 

A few tips to get you started:

* Keep wear and tear in mind. Items that are going in and out of a backpack frequently should have plenty of adhesive and be designed so that elements won't tear off. Flimsy items are best left for projects that won't have so much friction and use.

* Get your child involved! Have them help you pick colors, products to use, and even let them help you craft. Time together plus craft time is a good thing!

* Keep it simple. A simple idea crafted with plenty of love will be cherished.

My son is starting middle school, and is “so over” cutesy themed school supplies. He loved the idea of this old school book cover…with some modern style. To dress up the plain cover, I tore one edge of a piece of patterned paper, rounded the opposite corners, and inked the edges. Next, I layered a strip of patterned paper on top, allowing it to wrap around the spine of the book. The Sun Circle Border Punch made it easy to create a sunburst, allowing a circular stamp from Lil Davis to fit neatly inside. This was the perfect spot to add a touch of school spirit…a pawprint punched with the large Furry Friends punch. Go Catamounts!

CHA - FISKARS BOOTH 1323 the place to be

Hi guys,

I have been playing with a few ideas and making cards with my photos. This photo was taken at a mate's place and I manipulated it a bit with Photoshop and then printed it as a standard 6 x 4 print.

To make the card I grabbed my cardstock, using my trusty Fiskars trimmer, I cut my card and scored it,

I also used my trimmer to cut about 5mm from each side of the photo, I like it to look like it's matted, but you could make your photo fit your card to fit it perfectly. I ran my stazon ink pad around the edge of the photo to give it an edge, added some ribbon and the tag and it's done.

Why not take some photos of your favourite flowers and make your valentine a card from it. I would love to see what you come up with.....I will be back with another idea soon

Did you know........

The tradition of having Australia Day as a national holiday on 26 January is a recent one. Not until 1935 did all the Australian states and territories use that name to mark that date. Not until 1994 did they begin to celebrate Australia Day consistently as a public holiday on that date¹.

Australia Day, 26 January, is our nation's biggest annual celebration. The huge range of community events and programs on Australia Day are coordinated by local Australia Day committees and councils, an Australia Day organisation in each State and Territory, and the National Australia Day Council.

How cute is this card that Tracy Moloney Fiskateer # 6773 has sent through to share with you all.....I just love those google eyes....

The TEAM at Kaisercraft love using Fiskars Tools to create fun projects!! Now if you love using Circle Punches as I do then here is something fun to try.......thanks Alison for the inspiration!!

Tuesday Tip – Multicoloured rosette flowers

For this tip, I have opted to use the circle punch for the basic shape and used a scallop punch for the latter one but handcutting would also work fine as long as the two shapes are identical in nature.

Using a circle punch – cut 2 circles of the contrasting colours.

Make a slit in the circles for the outer edge to just past the centre point of the circle.

Insert one circle into the other and rotate to get the desired look.

Finish off with a brad or buttons.

Here are a selection of simple cards I have made using this technique.

For something on a bigger scale used scallop and circle punches of various sizes and repeat process above.  Starting from the biggest, layer the circles distressing the edges as you go to make a multicoloured rosette.

Materials list: After Five – Card Pad, After Five – 6″ Paper Pad, After Five paper – Cocktail, After Five paper- Black Tie, Kaisercraft – Mini Clear Stamps – Thinking of You, Black Ribbon, Black Ink, Misc Brads and Buttons

It is a great way to use those little offcuts and with the double sided patterned papers from Kaisercraft – the colour matching has already been done for you.

Getting ready for Valentine's Day

WOWIE...not long now until Valentine's Day.....and it's always nice to give your loved one a Handmade Card from the heart such as Debbie Buckland has done....

Here's what Debbie had to say....

The heart card is made with the supersized hearts and butterfly templates with the Ultra shape express. Its for my hubby for valentines day. He is such a wonderful supportive man and I wanted to treat him to a dynamic card this year.

Crafting is the best medicine

Sometimes I use crafting to relax and to get my mind on something fun and positive.....so with all the sad news this past week with all the flooding around AUSTRALIA I decided I needed a nice distraction yesterday for a little while. I had fun creating this 1st birthday card for my great neice..Kimberley..who turns "one" next weekend.

I just got out my trusty Fiskars Punches....."Lace" Border Punch and "Seal of Approval" Squeeze Punch....and then searched through my stash for some bits and pieces and came up with a fun card that I am happy with!

Do others use "crafting" to de-stress and relax?
