Everyone associates Fiskars with card making and paper craft but  many of the great Fiskars tools can be used with fabric too! I have a few projects that i will share that used both fabric and card.

Fetchy Skechy Friday - 3 in 1 corner squeeze punch

Hello all...todays sketch is centered on the 3 in 1 corner squeeze punch "Summer fun"

Here is my layout:

No.8 Fiskars scissors

Above shows the 3 in 1 corner squeeze punch detail - the squares were cut at 1 1/2 inch square. They made the perfect embellishments for this page.

Quick and easy thank you Day 28

Wanted to create a quick card to say thank you to Kiah's Calisthenics teacher.

Kiah's coach is leaving soon "sob sob" and moving up to Darwin to be with her fiance.

She has been an amazing coach and extremely tolerant with the girls.

Kiah's team is made up of nine girls aged between two to four years of age!

They had their mid year revue this month and it was so cute to see all the hard work they had done up on stage finally.

Here's Miss Kiah all dressed in her Club tracksuit all ready to leave for the theatre performance.

Best Friends.. (well for now anyway!)

Hello Everyone,

Michelle here.

I have been madly scrapping away over the past few weeks that my poor scrap room looked like a bomb had gone off in it. I have bottles of adhesive ALL over my desk at the moment.. I don't think I HAVEN'T used any of the adhesives either...lol..lol..

AND I had several layouts in various stages of completion all over it (about 7 at one time) and now that the back log of deadlines in coming to an end I have precut the next lot of layouts ready to go (another 8..lol..lol..) for deadlines. I like to stay on top of things with so much happening at the moment.

Anyway... all these layout required photos.. as some had been scrapped without the photo being printed but with on in mind... so I spent a whole day editing and playing around until I came across a photo of my younger two girls together.

Lately .. all I have heard from the two of them is that they are best friends.. yeah.. I hear you.. How cute hey!!! They putter around playing Mum and Daughter it is so funny to hear them chattering away.

So I just had to scrapbook about their relationship as it is now.. down the track I am sure they will probably want to pull each other hair out and go nuts at each other...but this is one for now..

I had so much fun playing around with an old cardboard box and some Fiskars punches and stamps for this one. I have never .. yes.. I said NEVER.. tried that before.. But with a little help from my Helmar products everything is stuck so well.

Well.. better get back to the scrapping grind stone... my mojo is flowing

Card Sketch 4 with Lyn

 

Well here is the last Card sketch for this month....I hope you have enjoyed seeing these and maybe take some Inspiration from the cards created to make some of your own.....REMEMBER....anything HANDMADE is a labour of love....and make the gift you give to others that bit special and individual1

 

Once again I got out my trusty Fiskars Trimmer and Seal of Approval Punch.....I did also use three other Fiskars Punches on this card......can you see where?

I used a Lever Punch, Palm Punch and another Squeeze Punch.......punches make creating cards so easy...just add a few scraps of cardstock from your stash and you can have a handmade card created in no time at all!

I'll be back next week with another Card Sketch to share.......lucky I did these before we headed overseas....LOL!

Hi ladies,

Well I finally got a little crafty and thought these three cards might fit this month’s theme on the blog.

 

1.       A Country themed Birthday card – loosely based around the sketch for week 3.  I’ve moved the image a bit because it was so big.  I used my fiskars corner rounder and rotary trimmer on this one.  The ribbon is trimmed with my microtip scissors, the only ones I use with ribbon as they are so sharp and cut cleanly and that they are easy to get up close to trim right at the paper line.

2.       A female themed birthday card – a simple way to display a busy pattered paper, with the addition of some rounded corners to echo the flower centrepiece.  The accurate measurements marks on my rotary trimmer make matching up two different pieces of cardstock easy.

3.       A “Mum” card – this was done entirely with my trimmer to create two sets of matching squares laid out in a grid pattern.  The centre is perfect for a sentiment or embellishment.  This style of card is a perfect way to use up scraps.

Birthdays Galore - Day 25

Lots of birthdays happened here last month.. I think I created a lot more cards than layouts.. which is unusual.

Still had some of the Bella range leftover that I had been sent to play with thanks to Fiskars and Spotlight so thought I would play with some.

My son had a friends birthday party to go to so my first task what to create a masculine card.

Here's what I came up with.

Card a day - Everywhere flower

I am getting to love my Everywhere punch.... some tools have to grow on me and this is one of them. But now that I'm finding a use for those punched out shapes from the Everywhere punch I'm feeling better about it as I don't like waste.

I did a layout on the 15th of the lego blocks.
from the punched out squares I folded them in a way that hid the holes and made each square into a petal of a flower.

I used Fundamentals fleur di lis embossed card base.

"Kissing" Fun ! - Day 24

hehehehehe...

Bet the title of this blog post got you wondering WHAT I have been up to...hehehehehe.

Well.. this month I got to choose the Card Artistry Challenge at The Scrappers Outlet.

I had to put my thinking cap on for this one. I wanted to do something fun so I decided to use the technique of "kissing".

The kissing technique is a great way to get more use from your stamps. There are several different ways to use this technique:

- Take a background or textured stamp and ink it with a dark color. Place it face up on your work surface. Then ink a solid stamp with a lighter color. Press the solid stamp into the background stamp so that they “kiss” each other. The background stamp leaves a pattern into the solid stamp. Then take the kissed solid stamp and stamp onto card stock.

- As a variation, ink the two stamps in coordinating colors, rather than a lighter shade of the same color, and “kiss” them together. Then press the solid stamp onto card stock.

- Ink a solid stamp and “kiss” it with an un-inked pattern stamp. This removes ink in the shape of the pattern. Stamp the kissed solid stamp onto card stock.

As you can see I used to different colours for mine. I had so much fun playing around with my Marvvy Le Plume markers and Stazon ink.

Remote Control Holder

Designer: Katrina Simeck

Difficulty rating: Beginner

TV remotes have a way of disappearing beneath couches and cushions in our house. This remote organizer is simple to sew and will control clutter. Happy viewing!

You’ll need – felt, fabric, sewing machine, ½ inch dowel

1. Cut felt to desired size – I used 15inch x 25inch. You may want wider or longer based on your couch size, and the number of pockets that you’d like to create.

2. Trim fabric to fit the width of felt, and at least ¾ the height of your tallest remote. Hem upper edge.

3. Lay fabric over felt, then sew outer edges & bottom edge to create large pocket. Be careful to NOT sew upper edge. Tip – don’t worry about raw edges. We’ll deal with those at the end!

4. Create desired number of pockets by stitching over top of fabric. Using a zigzag stitch will ensure that pockets are strong.

5. Use Fiskars Pinking Shears to trim all sides. This will reduce fraying, and eliminate the need to hem all edges.

6. Fold the top edge of felt and straight stitch to create a pocket for the wooden dowel. Slip dowel through.

7. Lay remote organizer over couch arm, tucking the dowel between the cushions to help secure.

What do you call yourself? Alice.*The* Alice?

Hi all - a bit of a creative diarrhea here.

And a confession: I'm obsessed with dolls at present. And Alice in wonderland... I blame Lynne Phelps over at the Altered Alice blog for putting out yet another great inspirational Challenge. But I did have to share this with our FiskarsCraft readers too.... Go here to see my other dolls.

This month we were to include a tea cup or tea pot.

Here is Alice from Tim Burtons alice in wonderland....

Yes she is Alice.... I know Alice - I know him anywhere! I know him anywhere....

With this face and these eyes I think its evidence enough to say she has spent too long with the Mad Hatter. What is in that tea? What was in that upelkuchen or that Drink me drink?

Eyes made with polymer clay. I Asked the Fiskateers what colour I should do her eyes and Bronwyn mentioned the above colours and that really struck the right cord with me and this doll. Thanks Bronwyn.

Cheeks are coloured with stampin up stamp pad regal rose and sponged on.

I hand stitched her hair, the black buttons and the neckline of the dress.
I used Fiskars New Titanium rotary cutter for cutting out the dress and tea cup.
Here is what the Titanium rotary cutter looks like...

Its really easy to use. Once more you can swap the blade over to the other side for left handers. AND if you do alot of cutting for your quilts and other fabric endevours this is a relaxing tool to handle and hand cramping is not an issue with all that cutting as this handle is so relaxing to grip. The blade is also titanium so it will stay sharper for longer.... ******a little birdy tells me that Fiskars are thinking Titanium for blades! Can't wait for that to happen!***** This rotary cutter will be in Spotlight stores soon  so keep an eye out......

ok on with alice....

Hand stitched her hem line of the dress, boots and boot details. Some of the boots where constructed with Helmar premium glue and fabric stiffeners (iron on and extra thick for the soles).

I hand stitched the fingerless gloves and some of the tea cup/saucer.
This also has extra thick fabric stiffener in it to hold its shape. Man Teacups are rather fiddly to make!

and the micro tip scissors for trimming threads.

12 in 1 sewing tool for stuffing, turning in the right way and stitch ripping (mistakes were made/corrected).

My hubby wants me to make tweedle dee and tweedle dum... I'm not sure about that.

I know my next obsession though is to make another quilted road mat for my son in the form of "Radiator Springs" (think Cars the movie). The Titanium Rotary cutter will be rather handy for all the cutting for that project.

Card a Day - Day 23 by Leanne

Today's card comes from Leanne......she has used the embossed IMPRINTS CARD from FUNDAMENTALS as her base....and then she trimmed a piece of the Bella Wedded Paper with her FISKARS PERSONAL TRIMMER.....punched out a Circle using the FISKARS CIRCLE LEVER PUNCH.....then added some stickers....also from the Bella Wedded Range......what a fabulous Wedding Card....and so easy to assemble.....

So why not create a fun card for someone by just getting out a few punches and stickers as Leanne did!
