This is part 2 of this tutorial - Part one is here - and the full supply list.
So far we have made the basic top part of the letterbox and the base. We have also covered the base of the letterbox.
Lets carry on....
1: cut dome ends for the letterbox.... I turned the top part of the letter box onto the carstock drew around it and then cut it out to match the shape. repeat for other end of the box.
then stick this to the ends of the top part of your letterbox
cut the opening so that you can post letters.
2: Cover the main part of the letterbox by trimming it to size. Don't cover the bottom of the box. it wont be seen much.
3: Cut two 3" strips and punch a boarder. I used the left over of the above cardstock as it was double sided I turned it over. the other side was this lovely red.
attach the boarders to either end of the letterbox.
4: Now to attach ribbon to the front of the box.
I made a cardboard thick strip and tied a ribbon around it. Then attached it to the door of the letterbox.
This helps the door to have a tight fit to the front.
5: punch two holes and thread another piece of ribbon through them so you can secure the door of the letterbox.
6: Now glue base to the bottom of your letterbox.
7: Now to make your flag. As when the letters go in the box on the 31st November the flag goes up so that the Elves know to pick them up. (in the morning on 1st Dec - there is a wrapped lolly/bar which replaces each letter inside and the flag is down).
Drill a hole at one end of your pop stick
glue and hand cut flag shape to your pop stick
8: attach your flag to the letterbox with a brad so it goes up and down.
Your project is done and waiting for the magic to begin!
I do hope you and your kids have a great time this Christmas. On the 1st of December we start decorating the house up too.... such a cool event!!!
