Yes, I love traditional Christmas cards but sometimes you just have to rebel and try something a little different. So here I am, breaking the rules and making a modern style card with a cheery, summery colour combination.
I had so much fun using my Banners Away Interchangeable Border Punch Cartridge making rosettes that I ended up with enough to make two cards.
I found my Interchangeable Punch Starter Set at Spotlight, along with a lovely range of punch cartridges, including the Banners Away. I have always loved my Fiskars Border Punches but think that I will be working on building on my Interchangeable Punch Cartridge collection up now - the punches do a crisp clean punch and the cartridges stack together, hardly taking up any space ... of course to me that means that I just need to get more to keep them company!!!
Back to my cards. As always, I used my green Self Healing Craft Mat and Finger-Tip Craft Knife to cut the cardstock for the base and decorative panels. After I punched out the strips for the rosettes, I scored for each fold using my Fiskars Embossing Stylus. I punched out a large circle for each one using my large Round 'n Round Squeeze Punch and secured the rosette together using Helmar 450 Quick Dry. I pierced a hole in the centre of each rosette and decorated them with a large brad. The rosettes were also adhered to the card using 450 Quick Dry. Handy hint for rosette making: join the ends of your strip together with a mountain fold on top, going down in to the valley fold so that the join is not visible, it is hidden down in the valley fold.
NOTE: I cannot take credit for the colour combo I used for these cards - it was inspired here by the team at Helmar. As for the card design, it was inspired the sketch found here by the team at DCWV.
