Royal Melbourne Show - entries now OPEN !!!!

Well it's that time of the year again when the ART,CRAFT and COOKERY COMPETITIONS are OPEN to take ENTRIES......for this year's ROYAL MELBOURNE SHOW!

Have you ever entered one of the many Show ART/CRAFT or COOKERY competitions?

It's really very easy to enter...there are so many different SECTIONS once more this year in so many varied CRAFTS.....you can get the entry forms now online from

 

In the SCRAPBOOKING SECTIONS......there are FOUR SECTIONS in the OPEN COMPETITION and THREE SECTIONS in the JUNIOR COMP......so make sure you spread the word....ENTRIES close JULY 25th.

There are sections for QUILTING, SEWING,APPLIQUE,PAINTING.PHOTOGRAPHY,PAPERCRAFT,CARDMAKING

There's nothing like the talent on display in the Art, Craft & Cookery Competition at the Royal Melbourne Show! Highlights from the Art, Craft & Cookery Pavilion at the 2011 Royal Melbourne Show included the Decorated Shoe Competition, the Apron Challenge that was new at this year’s Show, Sew & Show featuring the work of talented secondary and tertiary-level fashion design students and Makers Alley, a new precinct with products created by local artisans.

Congratulations to Judith Cairnduff from Croydon in Victoria who was awarded the Florence Monod Memorial Award for her large folk art plate with Cold Fish (Class 95, Exhibit 694). For a full list of Results click here

Fantastic February - Sketch Time!

Yes it is that time again to get your glue on and join us in this months Fantastic February Sketch Challenge!! Lydell Quin worked her magic again and came up with a fantastic sketch that will sure to please~so get your glue and get ready to make a beauty!

I was able to get creative with my new Fiskars Daisy Dew Border Punch.

I LOVE this punch and am very pleased to have it added to my Fiskars punch collection.

CHA Fiskateer online CROP now on

Just a reminder that the CHA Fiskateer CROP is now on over at FISKATEERS ......there are some fun Challenges and our own Aussie Fiskateer Tracy Maloney has set one of the fun Challenges.

Have you checked out Lyn's Australia Day Challenge?

Here is my entry. I made this card using Bella Australiana papers from Fynmark, inspiration from their DT cards shared on Facebook and LOTS of Fiskary tools.

Tools used include my trusty green self healing craft mat, fingertip craft knife, "Happy and you know it" clear stamps, medium, large and XL Twinkle Twinkle squeeze punch, medium Tag You're It squeeze punch and medium One Way squeeze punch.

Can't wait to see you project - don't forget entries close 25th January :)

A Challenge entry from CANADA - very creative!!!!

The latest Australia Day/New Year Challenge entry has come in from Canadian Fiskateer Debbie Cornish....here's what Debbie had to say in an email to me today.... isn't this a fun creative project!!!

Hi Lyn,

Australia Day sounds like a wonderful day full of friendship and celebrations. 
I don't live any where near Australia but would sure love to visit some day.

Attached are pictures of a keepsake postcard I make for Australia Day.

 

The front of the postcard is a map image of Australia.

I used a tissue type paper, tore the outline with my fingers to get the soft frayed edge and then ink the edge.

The map image shows a few events (swimming/fireworks) and locations of some celebrations.
The postage stamp shows the flag of Australia.

The second picture is the backside of the postcard where you can do all your journalling.

 

Tools used were my fiskars paper trimmer, 

 my fiskars scalloped edge scissors for the postage stamp on the front and

 for the journal edges I used the negative pieces (found under the punch) from my fiskars postage stamp border punch.

AUSTRALIA DAY/NEW YEAR CHALLENGE

Here's a fun party idea sent through by Chistine Cleary from New Zealand..... for our AUSTRALIA DAY/NEW YEAR CHALLENGE ....... Christine had this to say.............

Here are a couple of quick ideas that came to me while cleaning up my room today.

I have a huge pile of baby jars quickly stacking up - so I thought they could make great little gift jars filled with lollies or other little treats.

I also found some party blowers that were in a boyish design so I got out some old papers I had and re-fashioned them into lovely girly ones for my daughter.

Love the idea of Altering the Baby Jars and re-using for lollies or small gifts.....

Special Edition Punches - New Year Challenge

            I hope that you have a wonderful 2012....full of fun and happiness!

Let's start the year off with a fun Crafty Challenge!! Not everyone goes away over the Holidays so let's get those crafty minds activated and those hands busy!

 

I was nicely surprised a week ago when the FED EX man drove up our driveway with a HUGE BOX!

Thanks to LEAD FISKATEER Rebecca Peck I now have some of these fabulous Fiskars Special Edition Winter Punches.......and in true Fiskateer spirit I'm going to share some of these with you all.

I am keeping some being the PUNCH QUEEN that I am......LOL!  Thanks Rebecca!!!!

It could be a card,LAYOUT,canvas,photoframe,mini album,journal,gift box,party favour ,etc,etc.....you might have friends around for a BBQ or dinner...maybe have a famiy get together...so I'm sure you can think of something crafty you can make..................could even be little cupcakes with flags,etc....just have fun with this challenge.

If you use a Fiskars Tool then you have an extra entry into the draw.......sound easy?

If you don't live in Australia...no probs...you can still enter by just sending through a fun party type project that you have made especially for this challenge......party favour,invitation,party hat,present idea,etc.etc.....that could be used at a CELEBRATION PARTY!

Fisk-a-teers November sketch challenge part 2

Hello there! Today i am going to share with you the second part of the November Fisk-a-teers Sketch challenge. you can join in here.

I used my trusty Fiskars Trimmer, Fiskars Washed ashore border punch, Fiskars Apron lace border punch and some old heidi grace papers and embellishments. THe alphabet i cut with my slice machine.

FISKATEER ONLINE WEEK OF FUN

Kerri from New Zealand shares her PINK Layout
