My FUSE-a-rrific Adventure

I had THE MOST EXCITING day today!!!

I visited the Kaisercraft Moorabbin store

Of course I just HAD to ask the ladies when the FUSE was going to arrive in their store.

WELL, the most wonderful thing happened!!!  They had a FUSE and BOXES of design sets with LOTS of different sizes, designs and expansion packs!!!

AND, even better, Leith opened up their FUSE and I got to have a try operating it with her

... all I can say is WOW WOW WOW!!! 

Now I really have to let you know that I am just a Guest Blogger here.  Lyn and the Fiskars Team generously allow me to share my Fisk-a-projects and product spotting with you because they know I LOVE my Fiskars tools, especially the ones with Ease of Use Accreditation by the Arthritis Foundation.  I suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis and my Fiskars tools really do make crafting a pleasure, without the pain.

So now I can honestly say, with you all knowing that my opinion is not biased in any way, that the FUSE is SO EASY to use, it is quite compact when folded up, you need hardly any effort to turn the handle AND you get FIVE different options of use - Die-cutting the shape, Letterpressing the design (embossed and stamped), Pressing the design (ie embossed) - sorry, no example photos for these 1st three but I can show you what Die-cutting + Letterpressing looks like

and what Die-cutting and Pressing looks like (sorry for the poor photo, best I can do inside tonight)

Pretty wonderful for my first ever attempt isn't it?

It is going to be so hard to sit back and wait until they hit the shelves.  ... not sure how much they are going to cost yet either, but I think I am going to work on encouraging early cash birthday gifts this year so that I can go shopping!!!

My two favorite things: reading and crafting. Here are a few projects to ignite your (and your kid’s) love of books.

Do you need a little motivation? Use your tools and paper crafting supplies to create a book log & reading calendar.

 

 

Do you need a place to jot down books that are suggested by friends? Or maybe you read a passage in a book that inspires you and want to remember?

Get creative with the FISKARS FUSE

 Why not use the Fuse Creativity System to make yourself or a friend a cool looking leather bracelet as Rebecca Peck did!

Instructions

1. Using the tape measure on the Fiskars Sew Taxi, measure the outside circumference and add 1/2". Measure the width of your bracelet.
2. Using your Fiskars Rotary Cutter, 6" x 12" Acrylic ruler and cutting mat, cut a strip of suede matching the measurements in step 1.
3. Find the halfway point of the strip lengthwise and lightly mark with a pencil.
4. Using a small amount of repositionable adhesive, adhere the design plate debossing side up, to the Medium Base Plate from the Fuse Creativity System.
5. Wipe a damp paper towel on the suede strip. Don't soak the suede, it just needs to be slightly damp. This will make it easier to deboss.
6. Using your center pencil mark as a guide, place the suede strip face down on the design plate, aligning the design where you'd like it to be.
7. Gently place the medium cutting plate on top, rubber side down, and insert it into the Fuse Creativity System. Turn the handle clockwise to run the "sandwich" through the system.
8. Remove the sandwich, lift the suede strip and position it face down on the design plate where you want the next debossed area to be. Repeat steps 7 and 8 until your entire strip is debossed. Let the strip dry completely.
9. While your suede strip is drying, use a sponge to cover the inside and edges of the bangle with the InkaGold, following the manufacturer's directions for application.
10. Once dry, wrap the suede strip around the outside of the bangle. Mark the excess lightly with a pencil, unwrap it and use your rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler to trim the strip to the proper length.
11. Using a sponge, gently rub some rust colored ink and InkaGold on the suede strip to highlight the debossing. Do not push it into the debossed areas of the design.
12. Working on a small section at a time, adhere the suede strip to the bangle.
13. Add the crystals or rhinestones to the bracelet once the adhesive has dried..........................................................................................

Fiskars at CHA

It was wonderful to see the way in which the FISKARS BOOTH was decorated at the recent CHA Trade Show in Anaheim,USA.

Phillipa Godinho attended from Australia and shares these pics with us all................many of the projects on display were made using the FISKARS FUSE CREATIVITY SYSTEM......

                       OMG......how cute are these!!!

I can also spot where the ADVANTAGE EDGE PUNCHING SYSTEM was also used in the table decor....can you?

The FISKARS DESIGN TEAM certainly had fun decorating the FISKARS BOOTH to make sure that it was one of the most frequented booths at CHA.

I believe that they also gave away some FUSE SYSTEMS.......how darn exciting!

Many of these display projects were created by using the FUSE!

Summer Lemonade Party with the Fuse

This is something cool you can do with just one die with the Fiskars Fuse Creativity System....... as seen on HSN!

Summer Lemonade Party

Designer: Lisa Storms

Difficulty rating: Beginner

Fuse designs are so versatile, this entire summer party was created with only one plate and die! It was easy to add lots of texture and fun to the festivities.

Beginning with the invitation, two shapes combined together with a brad make for a fun, spinning message.

1. Using Fuse, create one yellow and orange scalloped lemonade square and one solid pink scalloped square.
2. Print out invitation text onto lighter pink cardstock and round corners with squeeze punch; glue to center of pink square.
3. Place both squares together and poke brad through center of lemon to connect.
4. Add “you’re invited” paper strip to front of invite to complete.

Include a save-the-date magnet with your invitation.

1. Format text on computer leaving room for the lemonade design at left.
2. Press printed cardstock onto self-adhesive magnetic paper.
3. Run sandwich through Fuse to cut, ink, emboss, and complete.

Set a festive mood at your party with a dramatic banner.

1. Run assorted colors of cardstock through the Fuse to cut and emboss the lemonade design.
2. Punch the top corners with a 1/16 inch hand punch to string.
3. Add letters spelling out SUMMER.
4. Fold more assorted squares diagonally and staple onto banner for scalloped flags.

Cupcakes are not only a party staple, they can serve as a dramatic centerpiece when adorned with whimsical pinwheels.

1. Run assorted non-adhesive craft foam through the Fuse to create scalloped squares.
2. Add a slit at the center with a craft knife.
3. Cut from each corner toward center as shown.
4. Using 1/16 inch circle hand punch, punch one side from each corner as shown.
5. Run brad through each corner hole and through center hole to secure.
6. Hot glue pinwheels to lollipop sticks to insert into cupcakes.

Another fun topper option is a pennant flag. Simply cut a flag from assorted lemonade letterpressed squares and adhere to toothpicks, bamboo skewers, or lollipop sticks.

Class up inexpensive beverage napkins with Fuse. Run several napkins through the Fuse at the same time without ink. Tip: Add a sheet of printer paper between the napkin and cutting mat for a clean release and impression.

Continue decorating your party with this one shape and die by adding flair to the table. Run thin cork sheets through the Fuse for matching drink coasters!

Dramatic tissue flowers are super easy and inexpensive.

1. For each flower, cut eight scalloped squares from a single color of tissue paper. You can cut more than one flower worth in one pass.
2. Layer eight squares together, alternating the direction each time as shown.
3. Staple at center.
4. Gather the first layer up to the center squeezing the bottom of layer by the staple as opposed to the top.
5. Repeat with each layer, scrunching up at the bottom only of each layer.
6. Fan out flower once all layers are complete.
7. Hot glue flower to cardstock strip glued or stapled into a napkin ring.

Cut out embossed designs to further accent your party.

1. Cut out lemon from embossed lemonade design.
2. Punch 1/4 inch circle hand punch at center to insert straw. For thinner straws, cut an X at center with craft knife to insert

 

Isn't that awesome!
Good news!  The Fiskars Fuse will be in Spotlight stores in Australia, NZ and Singapore in late September!
