A Special Birthday Wish

Today is a very special day for my family.

Today is my Father's 70th birthday.

We are away on holidays at the moment but have been lucky enough to have my parents come and stay with us for a few days.

Luckily enough I have been able to spend some quality time with my parents and get to spend the day with my Dad for his birthday.

So.. I got busy creating before I went away with a little help from Helmar Krystal Kote and Fiskars Interchangeable Punch to create a special card before we went away (too hard to pack lots of scrapping stuff this time round). By using my Fiskars Dream Weaving Interchangeable punch cartridge, I was able to jazz the card up quickly with a paper and ribbon bow.

Such a cheap way to make a card look super special and to give it a little dimension too.

I played around with a digital image again too and my water colour pens. I loved this image because it reminds me of Wind in the Willows. This was one of our favourite books to read when we were little. My Dad loved reading this to us.

So here's wishing my Dad a very Happy 70th Birthday.

You are my supportive rock, my inspiration and someone I truly love.

Lots of Punching Fun

Hello all.

A few weeks ago I challenged the girls here at our Adelaide Fiskars Crop with lots of fun with punching.

At this crop we had fun creating an off the page item, a topiary tree. I wanted to show the girls different ways to create flowers using many different Fiskars punches.

Here's what we created...

Can you see all the Fiskars punches that I have used to create the different flowers ?? I even managed to create one using one of the new Fiskars interchangeable border punches (the spiky looking flower).

And who knew there was so many different types of flowers that you can create using the Fiskars Scalloped Circle Squeeze punch !

As you can see from this photo I got the girls punching to the hearts content... hehehe or not.. We played around with one of the new Fiskars interchangeable punches to jazz up the bottom of the pot.

The finished result that the girls created was amazing. I loved seeing them play around with the punches.

We all agreed too that the new Fiskars Interchangeable punches are so nice. Both designs and storage of them is great. I cannot wait to play wth the punches so more.

For my Princess

Today is a very special day for us.

Today my little princess, Miss Kiah, turns 5.

I often wonder where five years have gone, as it has flown past that is for sure.

I cannot believe that next term Miss Kiah starts school as it seems like only yesterday I was rocking her in my arms.

We have faced a few little adventures with her that made life a little bit of a challenge but we wouldn't have had it any other way.

We are truly blessed to have her in out lives.

She has come so far in the past year and bit since she got her glasses and has completely changed from the demanding high maintenance child to a truly confident little girl.

She has truly blossomed and changed so much.

She will always be the princess of our family (personality based through and through!).

So for her birthday this year she wanted a card with a princess on it. So I got busy with my water colour pens, lots of bling and my Fiskars Interchangeable Border punch.

Here's a card fit for a princess that's for sure !

Happy Birthday Princess.. we love you lots and lots poppet!

Easter Card Making

Okay...

So normally I do not make Easter cards.

I have made them in the past but usually for design team obligations. This year would be the first year I actually made a card for Easter of my own free choice.

 My Mum had mentioned she was going to go and buy a card for the place that my Dad goes to weekly respite to. I suggest to her that I would make her a card to give to them.

So with a bit of help from my new favourite Fiskars interchangeable punch I was able to get creative very quickly.

Here's my Easter card for this year.

Easter Fun for School Friends

Got creative with the kids this year with a little help from some of the new Fiskars interchangeable border punches.



With some bright paper, kindy glitz and brightly coloured plastic eggs we were all set for Easter in no time. Plus the added bonus was that the Easter eggs met all the healthy eating and allergy policies at the kids school!

Easter goodies could be any simpler thanks to Fiskars.

Altering to my hearts content!

OMG! I have been dying to share this with everyone since I finished this last week...

I have been sharing a few sneak peeks on my facebook page as I have gone along.. but held off from showing everyone the completed project.

Let me explain.... We had a new cheap "junk"shop.. and I mean junk in the nicest way, I always find lots of goodies in these types of shops.

Anyways.. a few month's ago I saw a photo (sorry cannot for the life of me remember where) of a shopping centre that had displayed umbrellas that had been decorated by school children and hung upside down with things suspended from them. I was in love with that idea. So when I new went to the shops I checked out my favourite "junk" shops and found some Chinese fabric parasols.

They have been sitting on my desk for a while as I have been snowed under with study... plus to honest my mojo had gone north for a holiday I think..lol

So.. I finally decided it was time to start what I had envisioned. With no real plan in mind I started on recovering the umbrella with a clean base to start with of calico using some Helmar 450 to adhere it to the umbrella base. Because it is quick drying it was finished in no time and I couldn't get impatient.

 Next I made up some paper vines using some brown paper lunch bags, ink and some of Helmar's Kids Craft Glue.. my kids weren't very impressed when I stole it back to use..lol.

Still not having any clear plan at to what I was doing.. I then adhered some tulle to the umbrella using Helmar 450 , as I knew I wanted to create some dimension to the butterflies that I would be adding later. So with that all done after using lots of Helmar 450, Helmar Liquid Scrap Dots and Helmar Kid's Craft Glue I finally had what I had envisioned.

Here's it is.

It was a little hard to photograph as it is suspended from the ceiling in my youngest two girls bedroom. Plus the fact the size also at it is about 50cm in diameter! and has butterflies suspended down from it, which move, using fishing line.

My two girls spent half an hour laying on the flower beneath it... must admit I was laying there with them too.. just looking up at it.

I am so happy with how it has turned out and I know my job was made some much easier in creating it with a LOT of help from my Helmar adhesive goodies.

Gotta love thinking outside the box with Helmar!

Seeing Circles !

Had fun scrapping up a storm with my Mad about Scrapping DT kit this month.

The kit was full of Christmas fun and I loved playing around with the more traditional Christmas colours for a change. I created 3 Christmas Layouts using the gorgeous Authentique Christmas Range.

This is just one of the layouts I created using this kit

and YES.... My Fiskars Ultra Shape Xpress Cutter

and Circle template

was used in a big way to cut out all those circles.

Made my job so much easier thats for sure!

I was able to get creative with my new Fiskars Daisy Dew Border Punch.

I LOVE this punch and am very pleased to have it added to my Fiskars punch collection.

***Fiskars Adelaide Crops for 2012***

Hello Everyone.

 

Hoping that you all had a good Christmas and New Years.

 

Little late in getting this out this year as have been buried under a pile of study assignments!

 

 

So without further ado..

 

 

Places are limited and book out fast, so you need to book early to avoid disappointment.

Remember also that cancellations MUST be made two weeks in advance

or you will be charged for the kit regardless of whether you are able to attend or not.

All kits come with full instructions and all that is needed to complete what we are making on the day. (except adhesives and ink if doing it at home).

Please bring a small plate of food to share for lunch (can heat food if needed).

Oh my golly gosh.... think I am all Christmas crafted out....

Created 55 of these babies !!!! In the name of keeping it simple for most of our family friends, I had my own little production line happening here. My job was made easier thanks to these Fiskars tools

Getting crafting with the kids for Christmas

This year making cards has been a huge task due to family commitments, Volleyball trip interstate and study commitments adding to the normal hum drum of family life. I had several bucket loads of cards to get make and time wasn't on our side this year, so I enlisted the help of my kids to get them all done. Plus the fact that it was nice for them to be able to tell their friends that they had actually helped make them.

Every year my son give a card to everyone in his class and makes gingerbread people to give them. We made the gingerbread people this weekend and hope to get their button "stuck" on with royal icing through the week.. that is the gingerbread people survive the week with Miss Tarryn on the prowl... she LOVE gingerbread and consumes it like no one I have ever seen!

So.. I order to get Nate's cards all done in record time we decided to keep it simple. Some simple punching and inking and then it would all be done. While I had precut the main pieces I set Nate to one side with a couple of Fiskars punches (XL Scalloped Circle Punch and L Round and Round Punch), and told him we need 26 of each. He had a jolly old time punching his little heart out!

Now I can tell you will all the stamping that was involved (tree for circle and greeting inside the card) I WAS NOT going to do it all with my little stamp blocks.. the job was made a lot easier by my son Nate being able to use my Fiskars Stamp Factory.. no mess and he was able to do it all by himself as it was a breeze for him to use. We added a little bit of kindy glitz to the cards and then they were all done in a couple of hours!

And for the Calisthenics girls we went all girlie. Lots of pink, purple and sparkle... what Cali girl doesn't like sparkles! I had to do these one's myself as Kiah and Tarryn weren't able to help quite as much with these.... they did however choose the papers, add the trees (with a little help) and SUPERVISE... hehehehehehe.

Must say that thanks to Fiskars my card making this year was made a lot easier! Was a breeze to get all these cards made in one day and I am glad to be hanging up my Christmas card making hat for the year!

One of the many reasons I have been MIA

Okay..

so we all know that this time of the year is a little buts for many reasons..

Well is this house hold it has been MANY things keeping me and my family busy.

October is a nightmare of a birthday month for us here, with two of my own children having birthdays in that month.

Add school holidays, family birthdays, scrap booking commitments AND this year I have been studying.

The studying aspect has kept me busy that is for sure and I have already completed one week of my on the job placement, with another week to come next week (HUGE MWAH to my parents for kindly looking after the tow littlies for us down at Victor while I have placement... without them placement would have been more of a nightmare)

To top everything off... this is another of the reasons we have been flat out in our free time...

Excited just a tad that you can see this star from the Hallett Cove Shops !!!!!!!!

We had our official turning on party on Saturday night with our neighbours and friends... never seen so many excited kids and adults... drew quite a crowd too all night!

Okay .. would first love to say thank you to my DH for all his hard work till ALL hours of the night and to our kidlets, stayed excited throughout the month long process of putting it all up.

Anyways, if your in the area ( 15 Captain Place, Sheidow Park, SA) drop by and see the lights.

I may be bias, but I think it looks amazing. Our lights will be on throughout December from dusk till late.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights our little Christmas Fairies will out the front collecting donations for Heart Kids Charity and giving out popcorn.

Why not stop by and get into the festive spirit!

Last Fiskars Crop for 2011

And so ends another year of Fiskars crops here in Adelaide. A couple of weekends ago I had the last crop here for 2011. The weather was extremely toastie on that day and I was extremely grateful to have air conditioning. I kept the girls on their toes this at this crop too... with us creating 10 4" x 4" Christmas cards. And YES... as per normal... MOST of the cards were made using NON traditional paper... BUT we did us ALOT of Fiskars tools to jazz up these simple cards. So without and further ADO.. here's the cards

Plus I spoilt the girls this year with getting in early with a little gift to thank them all for their support throughout the year.

A simple idea to jazz up a chocolate bar

top it off with a cute simple little car and your all set for the season of giving!

Hope everyone enjoyed this years Fiskars crop days... I have tried to keep everyone on their toes and keep their brains ticking.. know I have driven you a little potty with all the hand stitching and water colouring.. but think of it as cheap therapy... hehehehehehe..

Busy Birthday Month AGAIN !!!!!!

All I seem to be doing lately is making birthday cards....

I decided to get on top of things and get October's birthday cards all done and dusted before they crept up on me and I forgot someone.

This year however, October is a little busier on the cards front more than usual, as we have new friends and work colleagues baby birthdays to add to the "to make" list.

So I decided to go with a keep it simple theme as creating all these cards quickly was my aim.. plus quite a few were for male friends too... that just don't do the whole scrap booking thing.. wink wink..

My son, Nate's birthday card.. nice and bright and 3D thanks to a few Helmar Zapdots on the journal spot

For a friend's son, Tom.. a teenage boy card is harder to make I find... but with a few stamps and a journal spot held together with Helmar Zapdots it was easy

My husband's work colleagues son's 1st birthday.. unfortunately we will be away for the party but I still wanted to give him something for his special day. Super easy bird made 3D with a bit of help from Helmar Zapdots.
