Creating your own "Floral Christmas Table Centre Piece" - Lyn

Would you like to have-a-go at creating your own Floral Christmas Table Centre Piece?

I love doing these each year.......made from plants around our garden.....but you can use plants from a neighbours garden if you don't have a garden yourself. We'll be using some Australain Natives,some grevillia,some cypress ( or some similar greenery)

I'm going to do up a Step by Step this coming Friday for you all......so here's a few things to get you started.

Things you shall need :

* piece of floral foam

* church candle ( approx. 6" x 3")

* white plate (approx.12 " x 12" or a round plate)

* secauters

* scissors

* Fiskars Border Punch ( any)

* scrap of cardstock ( green)

* Fiskars Seasonal Punches ( can use any punches here)

* ribbon (your choice)

* 3 woooden skewers

* Fiskars Drill ( or something similar)

Card Holder ~ Lyn

Why not create a fun Card Holder to hold this year's Christmas Cards!!

I sure had fun embellishing and altering this Card Holder from Kaisercraft......I just love their OTP products....and of course also used some of their Christmas Range of papers as well. 

Step by Step:

1.I painted the trunk,baubles and the sides of the tree with some gold and green paint from my stash.

2. Used my Fiskars Personal Trimmer to cut the paper...I left some gaps as I arranged paper on tree.

3. Adhered the paper to the tree base and left to dry for about half an hour.

4. Trimmed along the edges of paper with my Fiskars Fingertip Control Knife.

5. I did both sides of the tree.Finished one side ...then repeated the process.

6. Decorated the baubles with some Kaisercraft pearls and Bling.

7. Adhered the bottom half of the baubles only to the tree....just spaced them out.

8. Next added some butterfly and holly embellishments I purchased from Spotlight VIP Night.

9.Added some cards that we have already received this year.

Fiskars Bow Maker ~ How to video ~ Lyn Dwyer

I love making my own ribbon bows for Christmas and Birthdays......special occasions.....so when I was sent the Fiskars Bow Maker I was in my element crafting up some fun and beautiful Bows.

...... I have put together this You -Tube video to show you how easy making bows can be......hope you enjoy it!

I saw some Bow Makers last week in Bayswater Spotlight....so I also grabbed some spare clips as I needed more already.......LOL!

I have been creating so many bows.....for Christmas....and now working on designing a neat bow for my son's Wedding next year.....yes....mum has been asked to provide some bows for the Service.....so I'm going with satin ribbons......and just playing around at the moment.

Quick Squeeze punch cards #1

As promised.... ummm.... a few weeks back now ;0) some quick squeeze punch cards. If like me, you have been snowed under and haven't got around to your chrissy cards yet, these might be just what you are after. Even the kids could make these for you - now theres an idea, they could have your whole chrissy card list done in no time!!

Santa is in the Cupcakes!

I recently received the cupcakes shape template from head office. Which is available at wholesalers now.

I had a look at the packaging. Undid it and had a look at the template..... And instantly saw Santa amongst the Cupcakes!!!

No wonder he's a big fellow! lol

 

Here are the tools you will need to make the Cupcake Santa:
 

Fiskars Cupcake template and Ultra shape express.
Fiskars 1/8" hand punch.
Fiskars Sunburst boarder punch.
Fiskars Soft touch scissors.

Here are the shapes to cut out from the template:

x2 icing top - one in red and one in white (beard and hat)
Cupcake plain bottom - in skin colour (face)
Circle - in white (hat pom pom)
Wave shape - in white (hat brim)
candle flame - in skin colour (nose)
Curve - in red (mouth)
Oval - 2 in white (mustache) 

Punch out 2 of the sunburst boarder punch - in white (eyes and lashes)
2 of 1/8" hand circle punch - in black (pupils)

Assemble as in above picture.
Using a sponge and a pinkish colour for his cheeks.

A Christmas Stocking for your PET

As the holiday season approaches, we all like to pamper the loved ones in our lives. For many of my friends, pets are just as much a part of the family as children! So they shouldn’t miss out on the pampering, right? Use your Fiskars tools to create this fun stocking for all your pet’s favorite treats!

Instructions (Print version)

1. Create a stocking out of fun foam – I simply googled “stocking template,” found a shape that I liked, and printed it out. I saved myself a little sewing by folding the foam in half & cutting around the shape using Fiskars Softgrip No 8 Scissors
2. I then hand-stitched around the edge of the stocking using embroidery floss (tip: the Fiskars 12-n-1 Sewing Multi tool has a handy needle threader!)
3. I created a cute foam dog bone to decorate the front of the stocking. To make this, cut 2 hearts from foam. I used the Hearts Template and Fiskars Retractable Fingertip Craft Knife. I attached each heart to the end of a strip of foam.

4. To tie a ribbon in the center of the dogbone, I simply punched two holes using Fiskars ¼ inch Circle Hand Punch – it easily punches through foam!
5. The simple tag was created by first trimming a base tag from cardstock using Fiskars 12in Portable Trimmer. I added a decorative touch to the bottom edge using Fiskars Apron Lace border punch.

6. I then added a “no peeking” sticker, and a strip of patterned paper. Fiskars Furry Friends punch adds the finishing touch for a tag that’s perfect for your favorite pooch!

An idea for Kids for Father's Day

Well I'm back with those promised easy cards for Kids to make for DAD for Father's Day.

I Just used some white card for the backgrounds of these cards from my stash and then added some punched shapes,some stamped images......a little colouring in.......bit of 3-D foam adhesive and some hand journaling inside. 

Kids could easily make one of these for DAD,POP,GRANDPA......or that special MALE in their life. They love to colour....they love punching....and they love stamping.....so let them go for it!It's amazing what kids come up with when you just give them a few things....and they create from the heart!

For a quick and easy gift idea for the DAD that loves choc-chip biscuits....why not add a couple to a ziplock bag as I have done(maybe chocolates,socks,keyring,soaps,Bunnings Gift Voucher,etc).....then add a piece of folded carstock to the top. This was just a left over piece in my stash.....you could let the kids punch along the edge with a Border Punch if they are able to push the punch........

 Punch out two holes for ribbon.....tie a bow....add some stickers from your stash or the kids sticker collection...let them choose.....as they will know what Dad likes.....and there you have it!

Quick and simple....cost effective........and it's really the thought that counts isn't it when giving a gift!

Birthday Card Holder....

I tend to keep all the Birthday cards, Mothers Day cards etc and never really know where to put them. A few years ago I came across a fabulous idea of a card holder constructed out of chipboard and scrapbook paper and embellishments. 

Step 1: Cut your chipboard to size. I made my chipboard pieces large enough to hold the big cards that you may receive. I cut my pieces of chipboard 7.5" x 10".

Step 2: Glue your pieces of chipboard to your paper. I used the Cloud 9 Finleys Estate collection. Ensure to cover your chipboard pieces all the way to the edges with glue.

Step 3: Wrap the edges of your paper around the chipboard and stick down using double sided tape.

Step 4: Cut a co-ordinating piece of patterned paper to finish off the inside covers of the chipboard.

Step 5: Ink the edges of your chipboard covers and put a hole in the top left hand corner using the Fiskars Hole Punch.

Step 6: Decorate the front cover using embellishments and rub-ons for the name. 

Step 7: Punch holes in the cards and thread through them with ribbon. 

Step 8: Finish off by tying ribbon around the card holder to keep the cards in place.
