Welcome to my tutorial of making the cover of the fabric album. In this lesson you will learn how to print into fabric direct from your printer and prepare your cover then frame your photo.
Next week you will finish off your cover and the week after you will learn how to make the inside pages.
So lets get started:
Step 1 View the video on how to print from your computer to material
You will need:
A printer
Plain material
Step 2
Cut 2 pieces of fabric and 1 piece of old towel (or batting) two 8 1/4"x 18" (21cm x 16cm) And sketch out a plan of your front cover.
Step 3 Print out your desired photo and sort out your embellishments according to your sketched plan.
step 4 Now we are going to Frame our photo. Cut 2 1/2" wide strip 12" long and pin to edge of photo.
step 5 Sew 1/4" away from edge of your pinned on fabric. I used the side of my presser foot as a guide.
step 6 Trim off access material.
step 7 Do the same to the other side of your photo.
step 8 press down seam - then press the back as shown.
step 9 Now repeat for the other sides of your photo.
Trim off access then press seams
step 10 Now turn over framing material 1/2 way and iron Turn it over again and iron repeat on all sides
step 11 Sew around the edge of your photo as shown below
Step 12 I also sewed around the actual edge of the photo too.
