  The last few days I have spent re-organising my scrap space. Such a good feeling to purge the old and sort through everything. I love rediscovering items you forgot you had.

I had a hutch in the same room and removed the top from the hutch and put it on top of my desk. I love it. I had white shelving on there before but this just gives me so much more room to play. I am now feeling refreshed and organised for 2008.

I feel in the mood for a RAK. Leave a comment and tell me your favourite storage item in your scrap space. I will randomly draw someone next Thursday. My favourite storage items are my glass jars that hold my ribbons, threads and fibres, button and blossoms. I have had them for about 18 months now and still love them. I picked them up for a few dollars each in K-Mart.

I hope everyone has an awesome new year. We are having a quiet one at home. Not looking forward to the predicted 41 degrees tomorrow though.

Who loves to hand journal?

Just thought I'd share a layout with you all that I created recently for my husband's album using lots of hand journaling and incorporating some of the new Heidi Grace Travel Stamps.....and some HG flowers.
I love to do my own hand written journaling.....to me it's more personal when I'm leaving these wonderful memories for my family to share after I'm gone.

I use to hate my own hand writing but now I think it's an important part of who I am.

Who else likes to do their own hand journaling?

Handbag Graduation Album

I made this little 6 x 6 handbag album a few months back in one of Helen Williams' online workshops (Heidi Grace Handbag Album) which is available via the "Online Workshops" link in the left-hand sidebar of this blog.  At the time of making the album I knew that I wanted to use it for Dayna's Graduation, so I set about completing it over the past couple of days.

I didn't have a lot of the papers to play with, so I've used them sparingly on each page! I've used a barcode font to make price tags for her dress, shoes etc., I though it would be fun to look back on in 20 years to see how much it all cost IYKWIM. I also managed to scrounge up photos of her with all of her teachers throughout the years and asked the teachers to write a little graduation message for her.

I'm really happy with the end result and Dayna is over-the-moon - it's such a wonderful keepsake for her.

I've used the Cloud9 "Downtown" collection papers and embellishments for this album - it's an older collection so I'm not sure if it's still available in Spotlight or not.

New Years plans anyone?

Hi everyone! I hope you had a fabulous Xmas day. We did. Lots of toys, food and fun everywhere. The kids did brilliantly considering they were so late up and really we couldn't have asked for a better day.

So now its onto New Years. We're very sad revellers here with 3 kids not yet at school, we've decided to stay home. Normally we go away, but this year we'll probably watch the Auckland city fireworks from our balcony.

What about you? Do you have any plans? What about for 2008? Now is the time for resolutions. I'm normally quite bad at keeping mine so no longer make any. Well half heartedly. LOL!

As you've already heard there are some very cool and exciting things that Fiskars are planning for 2008 and on. We can't wait to share some of them with you......soon.

What an exciting and eventful year Fiskars have had. Lots of new and inspiring things have happened with plenty more planned for the new year.

I hope you have a lovely day with your family and friends celebrating Christmas!

I have my family all around me today.....yes....we have breakfast, lunch and dinner today with family!

Today is the first Christmas without my wonderful father....Colin.....I miss him so much.....so today he will be in my thoughts ALL DAY!

SO make sure you all spend time with those close to you and REMEMBER those that have gone....

I'd just like to take this opportunity to wish everyone of you a wonderful and fun-filled Christmas and hope you can manage to spend it surrounded by plenty of family and friends. Christmas is all about sharing and what better way to do that than with your loved ones around you.

If you're driving, please take extra care on the roads and be aware of what's going on around you. I hope those of you lucky enough to be heading away on summer holidays, have a wonderful and relaxing time but don't forget to slip-slop-slap in the sun.

It Is The Day Before Christmas

and I have finally finished filling and decorating my glass baubles. I have used various papers including some Heidi Grace meadows patterned paper. I embossed the tops of the baubles with opals and finished them off with some pretty ribbons.

I don't know about you guys but this year it has taken me a bit to get into the spirit of Christmas. Christmas just seemed to come around so fast this year. I have been so busy in the lead up to Christmas with lots of work and social happenings. All good but it is nice to finally relax and enjoy Christmas eve. The kids are so excited. I love how we have all our traditions in the lead up to the big day and their excitement grows daily.

All my presents are wrapped (a feat in itself for me to have them done and not left till tonight), my baking and shopping is done and now we are waiting for the man in the red suit. We are looking forward to eating some yummy prawns and other yummy food and watching Carol's By Candlelight tonight on tv. May you all have a lovely day. Enjoy.

to play now that all of my jobs are done - I just have the Christmas Pudding to finish off this morning and then I'm good to go :)

Speaking of Christmas Pudding - I finished off my Christmas Recipe book woohoo.  I've wanted to make something for my Christmas recipes for so long and this year I did it!  So without further ado, here it is...

Of course these are only a few of the pages and binding it together with hinged rings means it's ease to slip more pages in as required.  I've mounted the photos onto thick weight transparency type film, so they flip over with the recipes and add a little bit of fun to the book.

Again, I've used the Heidi Grace "Jolly & Bright" papers and cardstock sticker embellishments for the album/book.  It sure does feel good to have all of my Christmas recipes in one place!

If you're celebrating Christmas Eve tonight, enjoy!  We celebrate Christmas Eve at my parent's every year - lots and lots of food, fun and presents for everyone.  Of course it wouldn't be Christmas Eve without the traditional Bing Crosby "Merry Christmas" album playing in the background.

Have you ever

had one of those days where it seems as though the house is falling down around you?  Well I had one of those days yesterday - the floors were in desperate need of a vacuum, the washing basket was overflowing (not to mention the pile of ironing), there were piles of this and that everywhere and I just couldn't find the energy to look at it let alone do something about it.  Added to which I needed to get the grocery shopping done because the pantry was looking rather bare and we do still need to eat over Christmas LOL.

So what is a person supposed to do when faced with a day like this?  Well seeing so we still needed to eat, I jumped in the car at 8am and beat the Christmas crowds to do my grocery shopping.  What an awesome time of day this is to get the grocery shopping done!  Let me tell you I did a full shop, walked straight up to an empty check-out and was on my way again before 9am - brilliant!  I got home unpacked and put a piece of beef in the slow cooker for roasting and snuggled into my scraproom for the day.

What better way to spend a stormy and soggy old Saturday :)  It was the girls' first day of school holidays, so they were happy to have a pj day and lounge around watching TV or play Xbox all day whilst I indulged in my passion.  It felt so good to just sit and do whatever I wanted; and what I wanted to do was finish a couple of Christmas items.  I knew if I didn't get them done and left them for next year, they simply would never be done and I so felt in the mood.  I set-up a movie (or two) on my computer and scrapped the day away to Top Gun, Grease and Hairspray.

What did I get done you might ask?  Well this little project for starters - it was so quick and easy to do.  For those that simply don't know where to start on something like this, it's exactly the same as covering your chipboard letters (remember I showed you how to do that here).

I've used the Heidi Grace "Jolly & Bright" embossed shimmer papers on this and noticed it sparkling beautifully last night when the light hit it.  As you can see, I've inked the edges to give it a little more charm, but when inking these glossy/shimmery type papers you'll need to use a permanent solvent based ink like Stazon - other pigment inks will simply wife off.

I also managed to complete quite a few birthday cards which I won't bore you with LOL.  I need so many birthday cards over the Christmas/New Year period - from the 13th December through 'til 14th January we have 10 birthdays to celebrate *sheesh*.  On top of this I almost completed my Christmas recipe book, which is something I've wanted to do for so long.  I'll share this when I've finished it off, but for now the housework becons - as I said yesterday "it will still be there tomorrow".  Sadly tomorrow has come and I need to get stuck into getting this house into some sort of order before it's demolished again on Christmas morning - hmmm now there's another reason to leave it for another day ROFL.

Well I've been singing and whistling this Christmas Carol for days now........Who else does this?

What Christmas Carol or Song keeps coming back into your head as you go about your daily work?
