The making of a story teller.....

Hello everyone.....
I've got a little story teller in the making - My Daughter - she's 3 1/2 years old and dishes out stories left, right and center.

So I decided to start making a story book for her.
The idea is to jot down her story - flesh out the story a bit to make sense of it and put it all in a book.

Thus far I have the cover.....

This is my list of tools/paper ranges I used....
Stretched Canvas - front cover
Cloud9 beloved (red) cardstock
Cloud9 Travel cardstock pack
Google eyes (the dragon eyes)
Ultra Shape Express with Butterflies 1 template (wings - I used part of the shape)
and the Oval template (for main body) Other shapes where cut freehand using the Ultra Shape Express.
Black ink pad for inking edges of the dragon
Cloud9 travel cardstock medium alpha and number stickers
Cloud9 travel sprkle mini abc 123 rubons (for the word THE on front cover)
Gold acrylic paint (artilier)
Screws
12" rotary trimmer
PVA glue
Cardboard box for the back of the cover and spine
Computer/lazer printer to print out subtitle and credits

I'll be posting up progress every now and again.
This cover took me about 4-5 hours to construct and make the dragon then put the whole front cover into place. lol - Ok so I was watching TV as well! he he.

Oh something else to note:
I'd love to claim sole ownership of the dragon, but cannot. I copied him from my daughters book "Sparkly wizard's tale by Brian Robertson" the original drawing of the dragon by illustrators Brian Robertson and Chris King.

April 30 - BOM prompt 2

Well, its that time. The end of the month, so this is our last BOM prompt. I've really enjoyed putting these up each day and getting the comments about what your thoughts on them are.

Plus seeing the different LO's from our ambassadors and pushing myself to do a couple too.

I hope you've enjoyed this months BOM prompts and have come up with a few LO's yourself.

Without further ado, here is our last prompt....

if you could have any superpower you wanted, what would it be?

I've sat here thinking about this for a while now. I would love to be able to freeze time, or fly, or go from one place to another just by thinking about it. I would love to be able to hear things from miles away. I would love to be able to breathe under water. So many wonderful ideas. So many options. How on earth can I choose? LOL.

Stitches and Craft Show starts today in Brisbane

Hi everyone........well today has finally arrived and FISKARS CRAFT shall be in the GARDEN with Living Creatively at the Stitches and Craft Show in Brisbane starting at 10am and going to 5pm for the next 5 days!

Come and have a play with the wonderful FISKARS TOOLS.......come and ask questions......come and just HAVE - A - GO!

We have such a wonderful team of crafters who shall be both in and out of the GARDEN SHED assisting consumers......chatting and offering assistance. Today we have Ange, Glenda,Trea,Jill, Ngaire, Dawn and I (Lyn)

We have three FREE Make' n ' takes for you to have a try at in the GARDEN SHED.....and in the BACKYARD............so come on in if you live nearby.......we'd love to see you there.

Dawn is on her way up.........flying high above the clouds at this very minute.

Dawn and I shall be facilitating 3 live demonstrations all week.......times at the moment are'

April 30 - BOM prompt 1

What helps you get through the day?

I've gotta say I can't get through the day without a cup of tea or two. Yep, I hear myself say this and feel so nerdy, but its true. I don't like coffee. Wish I did, its so much 'cooler'. LOL! But nonetheless, its tea for me.

But for so many people there are different things that help them get through their day. It might be surfing the web, going for a walk, eating the same breakfast every day, phoning a friend? Who knows each one of us is different and thats why this prompt is so much fun.

Corner border punch

Hi everyone,

Well everything is ready for the Stitches and Craft Show in Brisbane. tomorrow...doors open 10am....FISKARS CRAFT Garden Shed looks great......along with the Kaisercaft Garden Shed.......and I believe there  are going  to be "ducklings" in the Living Creatively garden......as well as lots of wonderful outdoor things....yes....live "ducklings"

If you would like to see the new FISKARS Corner Border Punch.......then ask the girls in the Shed to show you how it works........it's a great way to add a classy border to your page. We'll have one there for the duration of the wek to be seen and played with......along with the Fiskars Fingertip Craft Knife!

April 29 - BOM prompt 3

If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be and why?

This is something I'd love to do, go back and visit some people who really intrique me. Like Alexander Bell. I mean seriously what made him think of the phone? How did he get it to work? I just think he was such a visionary and would love to see how his mind works.

Or what about Thomas Edison? The inventor of electricity. Again, how on earth did he think of this? What made him think that currents could go through cables and make things work? WOW!

Or then there's my grandfathers. Both of whom died when I was very young. I miss having them in my life as I go through old photos and see them with me. I miss what they gave to me in their love and stability. I would love to meet them now, as an adult.

For someone who is alive. I would LOVE to meet Oprah Winfrey. Be with her for a day. See how her mind works. How she gets so much done. How she thinks of her wonderful ideas and gets them to work. I think she is an incredible inspiring lady and I would love to have an insight into what makes her tick.

So many people that I'd like to meet, this doesn't even cover the tip of the iceberg. LOL!

April 29 - BOM prompt 2

What is your favourite piece of furniture?

Do you have something that you've collected along the way and just couldn't bear to part with? An old piece that has been handed down from your great grandmother? Or something you just brought yesterday?

Our furniture can be comfortable, decorative or somewhere in between. Its part of our everyday life and a part of what makes us feel at home.

Have a think about what you like in your house. See if there is anything that really grabs you. Create a LO telling how you came across it, what it means to you and why its so special.

Holiday Fun

Its the second week of school holidays in NZ. A fun project to do is to make a garage out of corrugated plastic. Corrugated plastic is what a lot of real estate signs are made of but I picked up a sheet at a stationery type shop. The garage plans I got from a book called Make and Do by Ivan Bulloch and Diane James.

Here is our version!

Cut 3 peices of card to the foloowing measurement

top - 32cm by 32cm

middle - 32cm by 45cm

bottom - 40cm by 60cm

You will also need cardboard tubes and boxes to use between the levels (can be painted). We used wooden blocks.

On the top and middle peices make ramps 20cm long and 8 cm wide. Cut and then fold down.

Assemble together. Add extras like arrows and signs. It really is easy to do.

I also had a piece of corrugated plastic left over which was a perfect size to cut up for a mini album. This material is perfect for sticking those Heidi Grace pins into!
