bread sleeve
Designed by, Lisa Falduto
There is nothing quite as special as a homemade baked item to give to those you love during the holidays. But what is a homemade baked item without some delightful paper crafting thrown in to make it decoratively special! So I have created two different sleeves that you can put on your favorite quick bread recipe to dress it up! Below you will find a quick and simple bread sleeve if you are pressed for time. If you have more time to play with dressing up your quick bread then you can create the more artistic sleeve also pictured below. Either way you slice it (pun intended) you always win when giving a homemade baked item, especially one that looks too good to eat!

Instructions (Print version)

1. Cut two strips of Cream Dot Stamp 4 1/2"x12". With the black side up create a border using your Give it a Swirl border punch on all 4 long sides. Now attach these two pieces on the ends overlapping about an inch and matching your punching pattern as much as possible.
2. Now cut two strips of Large Black Bloom 3 1/4"x 12". With floral side up secure well with adhesive to the top of the border punched piece above matching ends. Wrap the jacket around your banana bread to get the right fit. Once you have the fit figured based on the size of your loaf trip the excess jacket off so you have about an inch overlap on the bottom of the loaf. Secure the jacket in place.
3. Tie your ribbon in a bow and attach it to the top of the jacket on the upper left hand side as pictured.
4. Punch a circle using your XL Round 'n Round from a piece of the scraps you have left from creating the jacket. Center the round cream scalloped sticker from the shape stickers on the black side of the circle. Punch a small hole at the top using your 1/8" Circle hand punch. This is your "to" and "from" message tag. Adhere to the center of the bow using your safety pin so it dangles from the bow.
5. Attach a cream flower in the center of the bow from your Flowers embellishment sheet.

1. Cut two pieces of Scallop Stamp paper cream side up that each measure 5"x12". Use your Give it a Swirl border punch on all 4 long sides. Attach these two pieces together overlapping about an inch and matching the punched design as closely as you can.
2. Cut two pieces of Polka Dot Stamp black side up that each measure 4 3/8"x12". Again, use your Give it a Swirl punch along all 4 long sides of these pieces. Once you have punched these edges take your embossing stylus from your tool taxi, craft mat, and acrylic ruler and score about 1/4" in from the punched area on the white side of the patterned paper. Now using your micro tip scissors cut up to the scored line between each punched design all along the border.
3. Attach the scored pieces on to the previous cream pieces butting the ends together. Secure these with plenty of adhesive so they do not buckle when you form them around the banana bread.

4. Cut two pieces of Bloom Stripe that measure 3" x 12". Now attach this to the top of your layered border piece using plenty of adhesive. Fan black border cut edges up to give texture and dimension to your jacket.
5. Wrap your jacket around your loaf of banana bread. You want the jacket to overlap on the bottom of the loaf by about an inch. Cut off the excess jacket. Now apply a strong adhesive to the one inch overlap on the bottom of the bread. After doing this, go along and fan your black border out once again. This will give your jacket a lace-like appearance. Add ribbon on both sides of your jacket where the center cream piece meets the black fanned piece.
5. Using your large and extra large Loves me, Love Me not squeeze punches and your seasonal cassette flower punch, make several flowers out of your left over scraps as well as Harlequin and Small Black blooms paper. You will want to layer these to create 3 dimensional flowers, making sure to bend and fan the petals to give added dimension. Attach some flowers with adhesive foam dots and attach others directly to the jacket. You can also add some of the flower embellishments that coordinate with this line scattered within the punched flowers as shown. I created flowers flowing from the top down over the front edge of my loaf.

6. Now we will create centers for our punched flowers. Stamp in the center of each paper flower you created using your stamp block, Still of the Night ink pad, and small stamp design in lower left corner of your sheet of stamps.
7. Next we will create the personalized tag for gift giving. Peel the large black scalloped rectangular tag from the back of the Shape stickers sheet and place on a scrap of black cardstock. Trim around the outside edge using your micro-tip scissors cutting about 1/8" around the edge of the tag. Write on your tag and tuck it under the edge of your flowers with adhesive to secure in place.
8. Add some snippets of folded over pearl strands using glue dots wrapped around the end and tucked underneath the flowers in various locations.

Super Healthy Banana Bread (my own top secret recipe)
1 cup white flour
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tsp. baking powder
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup mashed bananas
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 cup ground flaxseed
In a bowl combine salt, flour, baking powder, and soda. In another bowl combine sugar and egg whites, beat until frothy. Add applesauce and bananas and beat well. Combine the liquid ingredients folding into the dry ingredients until well blended. Fold in flaxseed and mix well.
Pour into a well greased loaf pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour. Use a toothpick to test for doneness. Let stand for 10 minutes, then invert pan on a cooling rack to allow to cool.
