Fundraiser today @ Scrapbook Lady (VIC) for Bushfire Appeal

WOW......what a great day I had today over with Sharndra and the girls at Scrapbook Lady in Pakenham.....for a Fundraiser Day for the Bushfire Appeal here in Victoria.

I love this lady so much......she is always willing to share her expertise with others and today was an absolute credit to her......thanks Sharndra!

Having been involved in an evacuation herself on Black Saturday whilst staying in her holiday home in Neerim....we heard many stories today from some crafters who made the trip from Churchill and some who came across with me from the Yarra Valley.

We laughed ....we cried......we played games......we had raffles....we chatted and chatted and chatted some more........sheez...that's about all I did.......LOL!

Here's Sharndra and Sally(daughter) hamming it up as only these two can......like mother like daughter.....they always have fun and make me laugh! ...and believe me LAUGHTER really is the best medicine!

When I arrived at 9:15 this morning Sharndra and the girls already had the tables set up with goody bags .......

Many companies had donated wonderful goodies for our goody bags including FISKARS.....THANK guys!.

Sharndra had also generously created some very unique chipboard embellishments for all participants....even a little "thank you" on our name tags.........so darn cute....and such a nice personal touch....but hey...that's Sharndra.

WE PLAYED GAMES ALL DAY......it cost $1 to enter each time......heads and tails was popular with Sharndra flipping the dollar coin each time......you could buy back in for $2 each time....and if you swore during the day you were fined....and if there was game rage....you also got a fine...LOL!..with all money going to the Bushfire Appeal......

This amazing staff all gave of their time voluntarily today.....and they did an amazing job of catering,serving customers, waiting on us all day with drinks and food....just an amazing effort....thanks ladies....I too was there Voluntary today....to give my support to Sharndra and Sally and to help raise funds for the Bush fire Appeal!
 

Annette with her raffle prize.......it was lovely catching up with Annette....we have known each other for about 7 years.......and we actually met at a class at Scrapbook Lady ....and below Cheryl Gregson with her raffle prize.......

Cheryl ,Sandra and I who all traveled across from the Yarra Valley for the day!

I'm not sure of the final amount raised today as they hadn't tallied it all up when I left at 5pm......but it will be over $2,000.....an amazing effort.......thanks to all concerned.....thanks again to FISKARS for supplying the aprons,bags and some door prizes.......

Feb Inspiration - A Childhood Memory

Sharing my layout for this topic.
I have used Heidi Grace paper, Cloud 9 stickers, a little bit of bling.
The train is a die cut using a Sizzix train die cut.

I have shared a layout about a fav childhood toy here, and seeing it again at a friends recently.
The journaling reads:
" This was one of my fav toys as a child.   A family friend from the USA sent it to us.  Last year, while having lunch with my friend Simone, I heard the familiar toot of the engine.  I knew at once it was the same train.  I could not believe she had the same toy as a child and now her kids wee playing with it.  I joined them on the floor and took great delight in playing with an old favourite.  Toot Toot".

Saturday Sketch Day

Here in NZ we're in the middle of a big storm. Lots of rain, lots of wind. While in parts of Australia there are massive fires and people and homes at risk. Thinking of you all and hoping you stay safe!

For those of you 'enjoying' the wet weather, here's a sketch which might help provide some inspiration to while away the hours.

Kids Workshops @ Craft & Quilt Syd,Bris,Melb

Hi everyone,

Well it's been a long time coming but finally FISKARS are offering some Kids Classes in the "Creative Zone" area of the Craft and Quilt Fairs in Sydney,Brisbane and Melbourne only this year.....yeh!!

I'm so excited that this is happening as I firmly believe in encouraging Kids to "craft".......more on this in the coming months on here......at this stage I'm designing the project and it's going to be so much fun for these 8-16 year olds.........

I'm off to Scrapbook Lady in Pakenham shortly for Sharndra's ALL DAY CROP fundraiser for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal....with all proceeds from today going to the appeal.......don't know how much scrapping I'll get done but it sure will be good to have a few laughs and socialise after being couped up at home for 3 weeks......LOL!

I'm loaded up with some bags and aprons for the attendees as well as a few door prizes.....compliments of FISKARS........thanks guys!

Product Spotting - Spotlight catalogue

Have you received your Spotlight catalogue in the post yet ?  I haven't, but someone I know has and I had a peek last night.  And what a surprise...there, pictured with the border punches (bottom left of the page) are a couple of projects I did - a card and a tag.

The picture is quite small, so here are some better photos of the card and the envelope I made to go with it (click on the photos to have them open larger in a separate window).  I don't actually have a photo of the tag, sorry.

   

I used the 'Lace' border punch and consumables from the Heidi Grace 'Baby' range for this card.

Inspiration February 27- Siblings (either yours or your kids)

For today's inspiration I have chosen to scrap one of the most recent photos I have of my boys together.  I have used the Li'l Davis Designs 'Away We Go' travel range of papers and I think they work really well for this layout, even though it's not travel-related.

The heart embellishments along the bottom of the photo were cut from contrasting papers from the 'Away We Go' range, and cut using either the Ultra Shape Express and heart template, or the 'My Funny Valenting' squeeze punch.  I've inked the edges and layered the different sized hearts with foam tape.

The faux hinges are simply strips of patterned paper with one end rounded on both corners, inked for definition, and then punched with an eyelet setter/hole punch.  I've used epoxy brads from the 'Away We Go' range to tie it all together.

 

I hope that you are inspired to try using all sorts of different papers for your layouts, and that you are prompted to do a layout of your siblings (or your children.

February Inspiration - Siblings

 

"The Rule of Sibs: If your sibling gets something you want, you (1) try to take it; (2) break it; (3) say it's no good"  Patricia Fleming.

The relationship between siblings is something special.  There are lots of different aspects of the sibling relationship that would make good scrapbooking material.

The photo I've used in my layout was taken just after we'd given up on a family photo shoot where we tried not too successfully to get a nice picture of all three children sitting close to each other, smiling and looking the same way. I think this shot captures a more accurate picture of what my three are like as siblings.

While the photo says a lot about the younger two, I chose to focus this layout on the nature of my firstborn child ... always racing ahead, the leader, the big sister.

I've used Heidi Grace - A little birds tale products for this layout and my 'leave it to weaver' border punch was used to make a 'notebook' type edge on the green paper.

Is there a sibling relationship that you could make a layout about? It could be about your own siblings ... I must remember to take a photo of my siblings and I next time we are together. Maybe you are an only child, did you ever long for siblings ... or were you grateful you didn't have to share a room and your toys?

Fiskars February Inspiration Challenge - Siblings

Today's challenge on the Fiskars ANZ blog was a perfect way for me to record special moments between my two youngest children. I had the perfect photo of the two of them when they first met to play with also.

Some of you may remember the lovely bunch of flowers that were sent to me by the Fiskars Ambassador and Head Office.

 

Well I had mentioned that I was going to keep the paper from the flowers to scrap with as it was so yummy. I finally got to play with some of it on this layout. It matched perfectly with the Heidi Grace Urban Acres Flocked Dots paper. I loved mixing up the media in this one and love how it turned out. So much fun thinking outside the box.

So here's what I created:

"When we found out we were having another baby, we weren't sure how you would take not being the centre of attention. You were the youngest and very cheeky for 18months. You also didn't like to share and liked to be boss of the house. We bought you a baby doll and pram to help you gt used to the fact there was a new baby coming. You hated the doll and pushed the pram around with Woofy, your dog in it instead. We really didn't know what to expect when you came in to meet your new sister for the first time. We needed to not have worried... You welcomed her with open arms and a big cuddle"
