Out and about...

 

This past weekend I was lucky enough to go on retreat with my local scrapping shop, Scrapbook City. Whilst I could only stay for 24 hours, I was determined to make the most of it...and I did! In addition to teaching 2 classes, I was able to do 10 layouts!! I have not done as much scrapping as I would like in the past few months so it was lovely to just sit and scrap with some friends for a while, into the weeeee hours of the morning!

This is a layout I did using the Heidi Grace Love Bug accents and some paper from Reagans Closet...they went together perfectly and were the exact colours I needed for this layout of my dd and her aunt and uncle! I drew a grid and used the guides to place my accents, then added the stitching last.

I am already looking forward to the next retreat in October. I think I may even spend the WHOLE weekend!!!

Staff training at Spotlight in Cairns

I joined the lovely ladies of the Craft Department at Spotlight in Cairns last night for a staff training night with the fiskars tools.

Jenny, Tania, Julieanna, Vicki and Brianna were all treated to a lovely Indian dinner that Nilushi's very talented husband cooked for them, tummies full and it was down to business!!

We ran through the shapecutter and templates, eyelet setters/hole punch, squeeze punches, scrapboss, stamping using acrylic blocks and the stamp press, border punches, tool taxi, fingertip control craft knife, the new swivel knife, and the flip and twist corner rounder, paper trimmer including the scoring blade.

The girls asked plenty of questions and all had a play and then we all made a card. Considering only one of the girls is a scrapbooker, they did a fabulous job. This is what we made.

 

We didn't get time to do the little bookmark on the left, but they all completed the card.

We used the sorbet villa range as well as the squeeze punches and corner rounders on our card.

and here are the girls and one VERY messy table by the end of the night, but that means we were creative right?!

 

So on that note, i would like to thank the girls, they all came in off their own backs after hours to learn more about Fiskars tools and products, and were exceptionally friendly and inviting and willing to learn.

I look forward to the next time we have an instore demo, and if you are in the Cairns area, be sure to pop in and see these girls, they know their stuff ;0)

Kids Challenge ~ Challenge 2 by Meagan aged 10

I have attached Meagan's entry in the April Kids Challenge, sorry for leaving it to the last minute. She has chosen to enter category 2: Cover one of your school books,diary,binder or pencil case using scissors,trimmer ,some punches...and a splash of paint. Meagan aged 10, found a Notebook that she has and uses to write all sorts of thing in, and decided to pretty it up! She found amongst my stash some old Cloud 9 paper to cover the notebook, then used scraps of cardstock ,flowers ,and chipboard letters to complete the challenge. To meet the requirements of the challenge she has used scissors and fiskars trimmer to cut out the paper,she has used the treading water punch, arrow punch, and scallop punch. Meagan also enjoyed getting the paint out to paint the chipboard letters and then drizzle the contrasting paint on the letters and flowers. Thanks so much for doing these challenges, Meagan really enjoys participating.

Creative Journalling

After reading Mishell's post on journalling ideas I decided it was time to shake up my own journalling on my layouts.

Most of my recent layouts have handwritten journalling ... mostly due to the fact that our printer is not playing nicely ... so when I started my latest layout I made sure to come up with a completely out of the ordinary way of journalling.

So I got out my alphabet stamps and stamped my journalling. My stamps are wood mounted and it did take quite a while to stamp out all the words ... as I was doing it I was thinking how easy this technique would be if I had clear acrylic alphabet stamps ... I could line up the letters on my Fiskars Stamp Press and do at least one whole word at a time.

My challenge to myself for this layout was to not only use a different technique for adding journalling to my page but also tell the story in a different way. Usually I just write a couple of sentences that start with something like 'On this day you ...'

I was inspired by the old story book page which I'd used on the layout to write my journalling in the 3rd person, as if I were telling a story. I quite like how it turned out ... maybe I'll use this story telling style on a few more layouts.

Cute Make'n' take just for MUM!

Thought I'd share a cute little Mother's Day Make'n'take project that I'm using at my next Fiskars In-store demo.....on May 1st in Spotlight Bairnsdale!     Ooh...that's this coming Friday!

If you live in EAST GIPPSLAND then why not pop on in to Spotlight Bairnsdale and have a play .

I'll be in store between 11am - 2pm......I'd love to see you ! Then you can create your own favour container.....suitable for lollies,chocolates,small soaps, a folded hanky,perfume,etc.

I'll also have all the latest FISKARS TOOLS with me including the Donna Dewberry endorsed Fiskars Personal Rotary Cutter......ooh this cuts so easily through material.....love it!

So come have a play with me.....and we'll craft up a storm....coming with me shall be Frankie......WHO THE HECK IS FRANKIE?

mmmmm.....well here's a little hint ** HE stamps....HE is blue......and HE loves to be pushed around.....LOL!

Anyone who has been to one of my demos know that I take everything bar the kitchen sink.....LOL! 

JUST IN CASE I NEED IT........he,he. I do have my NEW Table Tool Tote though.......it looks a whole lot nicer than my old table tote!

A photo a day

HI,

I haven't been playing along really- but I not long ago got a new camera- and I heart it :) It is a Nikon D 700 and it is amazing. We also got carried away and bought 2 very expensive but awesome lenses. These being the f2.8 70-200mm zoom and a f2.8 24 - 70mm mid range zoom. Oh my goodness talk about 2 very heavy lenses lol. But I am loving the results- just need to work out how to be a good photographer now lol

Anyway I wanted to share this shot i took of Molly at the Park the other day. It could probably be cropped a bit - but i wanted to share it just the way it is :)

DIY Workshops in Officeworks

Did you know that Officeworks now haveFREE DIY Workshops held in each store throughout AUSTRALIA from 11am each Saturday.

FISKARS AMBASSADORS have designed 3 of the current projects on offer....with the next one being a repeat of Cindy's Elegant Wedding invitation this coming Saturday May 2nd at 11am.

These 3 projects....Wedding Invitation(Cindy)   21st Invitation (Dawn)  Kid's Birthday Invitation (Lyn) shall be repeated throughout May and June......so check out your local Officeworks store for further details!

Some projects may be held on a different date in WA/TAS.

Projects use FISKARS TOOLS and some gorgeous Cristina Re Paper Chic Materials.

This is a great way to learn new crafting skills and some of the DIY Workshops are about storage ideas,printer options,laptops,etc.etc....so go check out your local store.....whilst in there check out all the FISKARS TOOLS that are now in Officeworks stores.......

Coming soon.....National Scrapbooking Day~ MAY 2nd

Hi everyone,

Well it's only 5 days until be celebrate NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY right here on the Blog with lots of Ambassadors sharing projects......and some are even going to share their very first layouts with you all.........this will be a must see......LOL!

I went and hunted out my first layout that I completed in 2002.......OMG! How we change and develop over time.....I challenge you all to go have a look at your first ever layout,card,Mini Album,etc.....

Then look at how you Scrap/Craft now........it really does make you see just how your style changes and how you develop creatively also.....gosh....my layout has crooked matted photos,shocking writing.....and yet at the  time I thought it was fabulous.....LOL!

We all have to start somewhere......so if you are new to Scrapbooking......we encourage you to keep trying out new techniques and ideas.....keep popping back in here for Inspiration from the Ambassadors!

See you all Saturday MAY 2nd bright and early for a day full of fun!
