Happy New Year

Just popping in to wish all our wonderful readers a happy and safe new year................... Fiskars have many fantastic things planned for the coming year.

I love the beginning of a new year. Long summer days with the kids home on holidays, bbq's, swimming, drives and hikes in the forest and so many more things.

I would love to give a way a large Scalloped Fiskars Squeeze Punch randomly if you leave a comment below telling me what your favourite thing about summer is.

New Envelope Template

Hi Jo here, hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas and have plans for a fun New Years Eve tonight. 

My family and I are off shortly to our annual neighbourhood New Years Eve party.  Over the years we have taken turns to have it at each of our homes (luckily we all only leave a few streets apart so don't have to worry about the drinking and driving) all our kids are friends as well, so makes for a fun family event. 

But before I whip off and make my salad and cream the pav to take along, I thought I'd share a envelope I created for my son Taylor that I placed on a special Xmas present so I could give him a special xmas letter.

 
Creating this envelope was so easy using the new large scalloped envelope template and the Ultra ShapeXpress.  I wanted to use contrasting paptterns inside and outside the envelope so cut 2 envelopes out and glued them back to back.

Wanted to make this look shabby chic  - so to achieve this look I inked up the edges of the envelope with my favourite green ink pad "bamboo".  I also used a vintage font to address the envelope and an old postage stamp that had no post marks on it, so I was able to stamp my own post marks to give it the look I wanted.  A punched snowflake and it was done.

I can see myself using this envelope template time and time and being able to customize it again for difference people and different occasions.

Phillipa Godinho creates a gorgeous 'table runner'

Hi everyone,

Thought you might like to see a gorgeous Table Runner created by Phillipa Godinho from Fiskars Head Office here in Melbourne...hasn't she done a fabulous job of this!

Helped along the way in her Patchwork Journey by Annemarie Campbell one of our very talented Fiskars Demonstrators.

Pip finished this just in time for Christmas Day.....what a lovely handmade creation to have on the table!!  I'll tell you a little secret......this is Pip's first handmade Patchwork Table Runner!

Hasn't she done a fabulous job of it! I actually love the table and chairs in Pip's dining room as well ....don't you!

Annemarie Campbell can be seen working at Lily Patches in Boronia where she teaches Patchwork classes and she also does a lot of the cutting and kitting up for Marrilyn at The Patchwork Teahouse in Warburton.

~ time to reflect,record,remember and to plan ahead

Hi everyone,

WOW hasn't this year just flown by....where did it go? 

If you are like me at this time of the year you start to reflect on the past year and events,milestones,family occasions and also review your 2009 Resolutions....did you make any.....LOL!

This is where a Blog is great...it's a written journal.....and an easy reference....I have just scrolled through the past 12 months to reflect on what has happened in my life.......so,so much this past year! For those of you have been following along on My Blog  you already know what a busy year I have had....both with family and with work!!

So now it's time to start planning what I would like to achieve in 2010 ...I have divided my life into:

1) Family and Friends

2) Self

3) Work

Do others do this?  I now need to start working on each area of my life......to ensure that I remain in a healthy position for the next 12 months and continue to grow in My Life's Journey. How about YOU?

new products to watch out for in 2010

Hi everyone,

Just giving you the heads up on some new Fiskars products to watch out for in 2010.

The Woodlands Tree and Flourish templates are 12" x 12"....so a new larger size!

product spotting @ Officeworks

Did you know that Fiskars make lefthanded scissors?

I spotted some in OFFICEWORKS last week....along with a whole range of fabulous Fiskars Kids Scissors....suitable for all ages......how cool is that......the suggested age group is on the package!

So if you are after scissors for the kids to go back to school with  pop on into your nearest Officeworks Store.....they have a HUGE range of FISKARS SCISSORS! Whilst in there check out all the trimmers,punches,blades,craft knives,templates,etc.....

Guess where I was today?

I caught the train from Lilydale into Melbourne CBD today and went to have a look at the MYER WINDOWS......just beautiful! Then I hit the sales in the shops......LOL! These pics were taken in Melbourne Central.....just couldn't resist......love looking up the tower and through the glass to the sky above....

I spent most of the day just taking my time and wandering around looking at all the Christmas Decos along the streets and enjoying some bargains.......I haven't done this before around the Boxing Day Sales week......so was a bit of fun....then trained it back again and the MCG cricket crowd were leaving .... they all got on at Richmond Station....so that was more fun......Aussie Colours,hats and shirts.....Dads with the kids.......great to see!

Melbourne Central is a great meeting place for people...I was fascinated just sitting and having a cold drink and watching the crowd.....just standing around waiting for loved ones or friends......

Living in the YARRA VALLEY I don't get to go into Melbourne CBD very often....so this was a fun thing to do today for this Country Chickadee.....LOL! xoxo Lyn

Fiskars Tree Template canvas

Inspired by Annettes canvas in this post I made this canvas using the new Fiskars Tree template. It is such a cool template, it even has these cute birds on it. There are so many uses for this template with all the cute characters on it like the bird, tree, heart, acorn, squirrel, cloud, leaves. So cute!

Fabulous Fabric Frolic coming soon

Hi everyone,

FISKARS are pleased to be involved in the Fabulous FABRIC FROLIC being held in the Outer Eastern Suburbs of Victoria........more details shall be coming after Christmas so make sure you pop back in.......this event is held from Friday January 22nd - Feb 8th........and by all reports is a fun two weeks of frolicking around the 8 Shops involved....picking up tips and tricks as you go...not to mention bargains and specials at each participating store.....you also get to enter a great prize draw if you have your passport signed at all stores involved.......and it's lots of fun to do with a friend or two.

So how are Fiskars involved......well.......we are offering prizes,giveaways,great prices  on Fiskars products....and you shall be able to see the FISKARS range of sewing/quilting tools being demonstrated......sh.....sh.......more to come on this soon.......and did you know that my local Patchwork Store....."The Patchwork Teahouse in Warburton" is the only Licensed Patchwork Shop in Australia.......LOL!   There's a bit of trivia for you!!!

One of our very talented Demonstrators Annemarie Campbell shall be involved in this fun event so you shall get to see her demoing the wonderful Fiskars products!

Card using alpha oddments

For this card I used a shaped cardstock.  You could easily achieve the same effect using a finger tip knife or the Ultra ShapeXpress on freehand mode.

Like me, you may have a huge assortment of odd alphas left over.  Find colours and different shapes to fit your word and space.
