We've been enjoying the so called 'summer' school holidays here in Wellington ... unfortunately the weather hasn't been co-operating on the 'summer' conditions so it's been essential to find a few indoor activities to keep us occupied.
I've enjoyed teaching one or two holiday classes at my lss (Craft House).
My favourite would be the beginner scrapbooking class where I get to teach kids how to scrap their photos using basic tools and techniques. Here's the layout I used as inspiration this week.
My main goal when teaching beginners is to make sure they can use a paper trimmer to cut nice straight lines ... once they've got that sussed we can move on to fun stuff like using border punches, squeeze punches and stamping.
I was so impressed with the creative ways my little class used the techniques and tools to put together their own, very individual layouts.
I think the framed in love border punch was a hit for most of them. And with the 1 inch notches it was so simple for even the youngest kids to line it up and create perfect heart borders for their pages.
It also went well with the funky love squeeze punch which they also found so easy to use.
All in all a fun day and a great way to spend a not so summery summer holiday.
These look fantastic. Isn't it great to see the kids finding the punches so easy to use and being so proud of their achievements?
