I saw this idea here. And this is what I made with that idea.
You can see the lights better in this one below, though the image is blurrier. This looks so much better in real life. Really hard to photograph with my non skills.
And this is how I made it. Easy.
I had already created the background of the canvas for a previous class sample. I cut the tree using the Fiskars 12x12 Tree template and Fiskars Ultra Shape Express. Mod Podged the tree onto the canvas. Then punched the holes for the lights through the back.
I had this cool little set of LED battery powered lights I bought last year from The Warehouse (NZ).
So you just poke them through the holes in the back of the canvas and tape down the battery pack.
Then I added some blingy embellishments and that was it. It looks so pretty at night and the bling shimmers from the little lights. And I can just replace the batteries when they run out. How cool is that! I love how it's all compact and I don't have to plug it in.
