Cakes Cakes and more Cakes - Show report

I love working in the CRAFT HUB at the Royal Melbourne Show.....means I get to see all the fabulous Arts and Crafts that have been entered in so many differents Sections.....and the Decorated Cakes is one of my favourite places to hang out when I have a few spare minutes....which isn't that often..LOL!

I found this beautiful decorated cake by Ken Robinson that won First Prize in this Section... it caught my eye because of the Lace.......recognise what Ken has used??  

YES.....it's the Fiskars Lace Border Punch.....he has used this with his icing....amazing huh?

Another Cake that fascinated me was this one of the Lotus Pods...they are totally made from icing.....and they look so darn real.....good enough to eat....LOL!

Rod and Rosemary did a great job helping me today!! Cheeky things.....LOL! We have  such fun working together.....there's never a dull moment that's for sure.....LOL!

We still have a few Jingle Bulb Punches left and a few Tool Taxi...also have Kits made up for Layouts,Cards and a Gift Box..............come PAPERCRAFT with us!!

The ART,CRAFT PAVILION is a great place to be inspired by all the fabulous crafts on display....

ok...better hit the sack as we have an early start tomorrow!

Cyber Crop Challenge fun!

I joined in a few weeks ago with The Scrappers Outlet Cyber Crop.

It was a fun filled weekend of show related challenges.

I was rather busy that weekend with family commitments, but I did manage to get the card challenge completed.

Card Challenge - Was to use the colours Brown, Red and Yellow.

Here's the cards I created using this colour combo.

I also was lucky enough to set one of the challenges. The challenge I set was to create a layout with NO photos and using a ride at the show as inspiration. Here's my sample I created:

Fetchy Skechy Friday - bright and cheerful

hi all, running late today... well have all week but had some good inspiration.
Today I do not have a layout example but I have actually done a sketch....

I can see flower lever punches and corner rounder lever punches used here by Fiskars with some bling swirls and awesome bright colours with fun in the sun photos.

Jingle Bulb, Jingle Bulb, jingle all the way!

It is definitely time for everyone to go to the Melbourne Show!!!
Visit Lyn at the Craft Hub and get the fabulous Jingle Bulb squeeze punch.
What a fabulous punch!  Apart from having the Arthritis Foundation Ease-of-Use Commendation (meaning it is easy to use, even for stiff, sore arthritic hands) it is a fun punch for creating Christmas cards and layouts.

This card uses a combination of the Jingle Bulb squeeze punch and the Everywhere Punch.
 
You can even use the "negatives" from your punching and keep your Jingle Bulb punch outs to use on other projects.
 
This card uses the Jingle Bulb negatives too, with a mat created using the Fiskars Frames-1 Shape Template and Ultra Shape Express tool.
 
Hope you all go and get your Jingle Bulb squeeze punch and have fun making some Christmas cards too.

Helloooooo....am sure you are wondering what happened to D1 and I....well the last few weeks have seen us besides being busy busy...but we have been without our normal level of technology and internet access.....to be honest life kinda got in the road a llittle too.....so glad Deb and D2 have been here.....are they not the clever-est girls.

So what have we been up to .....

We did sit down and make this card a few weeks back....

D1 was so excited to use the Fiskars Scalloped 2 1/2 Square Punch and some of the Fynmark Bella wedding range....we added a Bella Bucklez and we were ready to head off to the wedding.

Yes that's right we went to a wedding.....it is here where D1 disappeared and Deb and D2 have not seen her since......i will post more about that soon.

PS.....see how much help D2 was in this project, just lying around doing diddly squat...lol.

I'm getting quite excited about working in the CRAFT HUB again at this year's Royal Melbourne Show.

                          

Rosemary , Rod and I shall be working on Friday Sept. 30th, Saturday Oct. 1st and Tuesday October 4th.... ooh that's only a few days away................

We'll be playing with many craft tools including the Fiskars Jingle Bulb Squeeze Punch and the 6 in 1 Fiskars Craft Tool as seen in the pic above!!

We'll show you how easy these great tools are to use....and how to get the most out of your tools!

Tracy has been a regular follower of our Fiskars Blog and she is also a very talented Crafter who loves to share her projects with others. We are so excited to have Tracy join the TEAM for October!!

Tracy also loves her garden and loves any opportunity to get outside with her Fiskars Gardening Tools!

We are looking forward to having Tracy as our Guest Blogger for October...so please welcome her by leaving some comments or love for her. Tracy shall tell us a little bit more about herself in the coming days.

We would also like to thank Tara Capewell for the marvellous job she has been doing since her Guest Blogger Spot in August......Tara shall continue to inspire us all with her wonderful crafty projects in the coming months.

Thanks must also go to our fabulous NSW Dollies.....D1 and D2 who have certainly created some fun on here this month(September).....Robyn Wilkinson and Debbie Guihot from Canowindra in NSW have certainly inspired us with their humour and fabulous crafty projects......if D1 and D2 can learn to sew and papercraft then I'm sure we can all HAVE-A-GO!!

OCTOBER is a great time to start planning for those handmade Christmas Projects/cards/tags/sewing projects/etc. to allow yourself plenty of time to get projects completed before the silly season starts!

Kits here Kits there....I have Kits EVERYWHERE....it's SHOWTIME

My place has Show things everywhere at the moment......

Nearly finished the Kit Instruction Sheets......PHEW!! Just one Layout to go...woohoo...

These Fiskars Tool Taxis would make great stocking fillers for Christmas....they shall be going out for a SHOW SPECIAL PRICE........less than $10......now that's a bargain!! Sewing months - Fabric Totes

Hi all yes I am doing sewing!!!
unfortunately my list is quickly growing!!!!

my sewing list....

1. Make Radiator Springs Fire house carry case for my son.
2. Make Christmas Fabric napkins
3. Make everyday Fabric place mats x 8
4. Make a fabric sewing machine cover
5. Make fabric totes.... on this post - done!

Fiskars tools used:
Square quilting ruler
Titanium rotary cutter
No 8 scissors - limited edition Pink flower Heidi Grace
Soft touch scissors

The fabric I used on the outside was a printed canvas I got given ages ago.
The lining fabric I used was cotton.
The handle webbing is from old bags my kids once had that I salvaged from them when they gave out on us. (Always save buckles, straps and that sort of thing. you never know when you need them)
I also used extra thick interfacing inside two walls of the totes (its kind of feels like chipboard but it is fabric and washable)

size of these totes I made are about 8" square on the bottom and about the same on the sides.

they fold down awesomely for storage.
Perfect for the kids rooms too.... I may have to make more..... I have enough fabric for 2 more totes. But a whole lot different sizes for their rooms may help keep their rooms tidy? hmmmm we will see. lol - I do live in hope!
