Summer Lemonade Party with the Fuse

This is something cool you can do with just one die with the Fiskars Fuse Creativity System....... as seen on HSN!

Summer Lemonade Party

Fuse designs are so versatile, this entire summer party was created with only one plate and die! It was easy to add lots of texture and fun to the festivities.

Beginning with the invitation, two shapes combined together with a brad make for a fun, spinning message.

1. Using Fuse, create one yellow and orange scalloped lemonade square and one solid pink scalloped square.
2. Print out invitation text onto lighter pink cardstock and round corners with squeeze punch; glue to center of pink square.
3. Place both squares together and poke brad through center of lemon to connect.
4. Add “you’re invited” paper strip to front of invite to complete.

Include a save-the-date magnet with your invitation.

1. Format text on computer leaving room for the lemonade design at left.
2. Press printed cardstock onto self-adhesive magnetic paper.
3. Run sandwich through Fuse to cut, ink, emboss, and complete.

Set a festive mood at your party with a dramatic banner.

1. Run assorted colors of cardstock through the Fuse to cut and emboss the lemonade design.
2. Punch the top corners with a 1/16 inch hand punch to string.
3. Add letters spelling out SUMMER.
4. Fold more assorted squares diagonally and staple onto banner for scalloped flags.

Cupcakes are not only a party staple, they can serve as a dramatic centerpiece when adorned with whimsical pinwheels.

1. Run assorted non-adhesive craft foam through the Fuse to create scalloped squares.
2. Add a slit at the center with a craft knife.
3. Cut from each corner toward center as shown.
4. Using 1/16 inch circle hand punch, punch one side from each corner as shown.
5. Run brad through each corner hole and through center hole to secure.
6. Hot glue pinwheels to lollipop sticks to insert into cupcakes.

Another fun topper option is a pennant flag. Simply cut a flag from assorted lemonade letterpressed squares and adhere to toothpicks, bamboo skewers, or lollipop sticks.

Class up inexpensive beverage napkins with Fuse. Run several napkins through the Fuse at the same time without ink. Tip: Add a sheet of printer paper between the napkin and cutting mat for a clean release and impression.

Continue decorating your party with this one shape and die by adding flair to the table. Run thin cork sheets through the Fuse for matching drink coasters!

Dramatic tissue flowers are super easy and inexpensive.

1. For each flower, cut eight scalloped squares from a single color of tissue paper. You can cut more than one flower worth in one pass.
2. Layer eight squares together, alternating the direction each time as shown.
3. Staple at center.
4. Gather the first layer up to the center squeezing the bottom of layer by the staple as opposed to the top.
5. Repeat with each layer, scrunching up at the bottom only of each layer.
6. Fan out flower once all layers are complete.
7. Hot glue flower to cardstock strip glued or stapled into a napkin ring.

Cut out embossed designs to further accent your party.

1. Cut out lemon from embossed lemonade design.
2. Punch 1/4 inch circle hand punch at center to insert straw. For thinner straws, cut an X at center with craft knife to insert

 

Isn't that awesome!
Good news!  The Fiskars Fuse will be in Spotlight stores in Australia, NZ and Singapore in late September!

Sympathy Cards ~by Lyn

It's not easy to think of how to create Sympathy Cards......so I thought I share a couple I created a few weeks ago whilst I was staying in our holiday house in EAST GIPPSLAND.....

I tried to keep them fairly simple....using a few Fiskars Punches, my Fiskars Microtip Scissors and my Fiskars Surecut Trimmer......

The In Stitches Border Punch is available in stores now.....as is the Dream Weaving Interchangeable Border Punch........and the Up in the Clouds Border Punch.

I've heard a whisper that there shall be a few more NEW Fiskars Trimmers alos hitting stores around the country soon....so keep your eyes peeled when out shopping if you are looking for another trimmer.

Hunger Games Sewing project - tutorial

Lately i have been reading the Hunger Games books and really enjoyed them.... I also wanted to thank the teen that was lending them to me so I decided to make some arm warmers for her.

Here is how I made them....

You will need

• Fiskars Titanium Rotary Cutter/or No8 scissors
• fiskars Cutting mat
• fiskars quiting ruler
• Helmar Premium craft glue
• Thread
• Polar Fleece (light brown) 1/4 meter or so
• dark brown felt
• yellow or light orange felt
• Sewing machine

step one
I used the quilting ruler to cut out 4 - 6" x 10" pieces

step two
next I found a logo on the internet of the hungergames and printed it out twice...
one reversed at the desired size (link to logo here)

I cut the images out using the printed logos and stuck the yellow logos onto the brown felt with Helmar Premium Craft glue - it is a great fabric glue that will hold up in the wash!
Set aside the "patches"

Step three
We will now be cutting out the main arm warmers and sewing them up...

Take two pieces of fabric - wrong side facing out - draw around your hand and forearm as above with a permanent fabric marker leaving a good 1/2inch gap around your hand/forearm.

Step four
Cut your piece NOT on the lines you just drew but another 1inch wider around the line...
(note that the picture is not accurate - but you get the idea - adjustments had to be made)

Step Five
Now do this for the other arm to...
You should end up with four pieces cut the same as above.

Step six
Take two oposite sides and put the right side up
Pin the logo patch to the back of the hand side and sew onto the arm warmer

step seven
now put the other side of your armwarmer pieces ontop of your logo sides Right sides together and sew around the edges between the drawn line and the edge...

test to see if your hand can get into the opening, if not nows the time to unpick and sew back up leaving a smaller seam. (which I had to do)

step eight
Next is to turn your arm warmers the right way out and try them on!

Hey if they fit me they should fit a teenager aye.... within theroy.

Fuse launch on HSN‏!!!!

Fiskars and Fynmark what a great combo! part 1

good Morning everyone! i have been a little slack again lately :(  i have a bunch of Fiskars projects i have created to share with you but just have not had the time to pop them up here on the blog! my lovely little 1 year old has hit terrible 2's early! and OMG she has become a little monster! 

So while i have her quiet watching teletubbies, i am going to "try"to share with you!

Fiskars was kind enough to send me a bunch of Fynmark's Ruby Rock it range of patterned papers card and embellishment a little while ago. I have been a busy little bee over the past few weeks.....when all are in bed;) ... and have made a few little projects.

First up is a little card.

 

You may have seen the image i have coloured before. When i colour an image i really like i tend to colour a couple at the same time so when i need a quick image, hey presto! i have one ready and waiting.I use copic markers for my colouring.

I took this image and using my Fiskars fingertip knife....which IS THE BEST IDEA EVER!.....and cut out the image.

Then i took my blank card and glued some of the paper on the card inside and out. With my Fiskars interchangeable border punch and cartridge - up in the clouds i punched an edge on my card. the punch had no issues going through the card and 2 layers of paper.

( if it had have been a more detailed punch i would have punched each individually and then lined up to glue.)

I then took some of the embellishments and added to the card along with a game spinner and some twine.

In the  inside i cut a strip of Paper with my Fiskars Trimmer and then folded it back and forth like to create a little embellishment for the inside of the card. Using my Fiskars corner rounder i then trimmer another piece of patterned paper to add to the card for a message to be written.

The card turned out quite cute and the range of Fynmark papers and embellishment looked great together. All the products apart from the stamped image can be purchased from Spotlight.

 

Ok next up is a layout.

With this layout i used the Bella! cardstock that is embossed. I then used my Fiskars Trimmer to make a few paper strips to place across the page. one i folded and the other i trimmed the edges for a different effect.

I then took my Fiskars Shape express and the Fiskars oval template and cut a bunch of Ovals out of the lined patterned paper. i then over lapped them to get a scalloped effect on the bottom of my page.

I then coloured the bella! white lace trim with a copic marker to match my papers.

Lastly i used a couple of dies to make the felt flowers and a die cutting machine to make the title.

I added some buttons and a few gems and my page was finished.

All the papers and Fiskars tools again are available at your local spotlight store.

I hope you have enjoyed a few of my projects.

Birthday Wishes to a Special Little Friend

Something nice and bright and bubbly this week.

Miss Kiah and Mr Nate had a party of a little friend to attend so a card was called for.

Played around with some old left over chipboard alphas, texture paste, recycled card and water coloured digi image for this one.

Plus made a fancy paper ribbon trim using two of my favourite Fiskars Interchangeable punches.

inside the cover

As promised last week ...these are the two pages inside the cover of my AUSSIE FISKATEER CIRCLE JOURNAL......I like to have a Sign in Page using tags that participants can add their photo and details to...and maybe a ribbon or thread.....their choice...you can really have fun with this.

I have just used supplies from my stash for this Circle Journal....so you don't have to purchase new supplies....Circle Journals are a great way of using up those smaller pieces of paper/cardstock.

I did use the Fiskars Groovy Rainbow Interchangeable Punch to just add a pretty border.....

So now you have seen my CJ Cover and the two inside pages completed......back next week...on June 23rd with the next page for you......the post out date for the first round...isn't until July 31st....so still plenty of time to start thinking about your THEME, CJ Size and what you wish to include.....

I'll be checking into the Fiskateers Messageboard when I return form overseas and shall be able to answer any questions you may have.....or you can leave a comment under here.....

Hunger games inspired layout

Latest book that I am reading is book 3 from the Hunger Games series.....
Yes it is now coming out in my crafting....

I have based the following layout on this outfit worn by Effie Trinket a character from the hunger games movie…

I boarder punched the photo mat with Fiskars interchangable boarder punch - groovy ranbow cartridge.

Stuck for ideas ~ Male Cards

Do you sometimes get stuck for ideas when thinking of a Male Birthday?

My rule of thumb is to try and keep them Simple....and I don't usually have many embellishments on them if the card is for an adult recepient........if the card is for a Male child.....then that's different....I add more fun embellishments...depending on the age of the child.....

Here's   a few samples I made recently to put in my card stash.....

For this card.....I just went with scraps of papers in my stash.....some cardstock from Bella.....found the chipboard words also in my stash.....I used my Fiskars Banners Away and Up in the Clouds Interchangeable Border Punches.......easy peasy....with very litte effort.

Once again I kept it simple for the second card....and added a punched border using the Fiskars Up in the Clouds Interchangeable Border Punch.

For the next card I decided to get out some stamps....but still not over doing things....

Once again I just used things from my stash.......this time darker colours...stamped some images and then fussy cut around them with my Fiskars Microtip Scissors...but you could also use the Fiskars Ultra Express Shapecutter to do this......to add a bit of dimension some 3-D adhesive was placed under the images......and there you have them......

I have quite a few male cards to make each year having 4 sons and a hubby to start with.....let along brothers,brother in laws,etc........sometimes I also add Sport Stickers or chipbaord pieces to my boys cards......and with Rod I may add a Fisherman Stamped image,etc......
