Hi all
My thing every year the lounge and kitchen gets decorated wonderfully..... the hallway gets a little decorating but the rest of the house is just left.....
My aim this year is to start on decorating the kids rooms.... I have a boy and an girl both at school and under 8yrs old.
Today I am posting up the bed footer quilt.... its more of a decorative thing than anything practical.
Its for the end of the bed.
Here are progress photos...
i first sewed up my blocks
Got several off cuts from the $1 bin at fabric vision!
I layed out my blocks and then put green fabric between them.... (the green fabric was a valance from a second hand shop only cost me $2!) I also completed the sashing by putting a green frame around it all...
I cut an old single dacron duvet inner in half for the batting. We had updated the kids duvets to new ones. I'm recycling the old ones this way ;)
I sandwiched the top, batting and back all together and pinned it all at 3-4inch intervils then started quilting it all....
I did have quite a bunch of quilt in my sewing machine... but it handled it.
I started middle to end then witched it over and went from middle to end...
then repeated it lengthways as well...
Yea I know I should have done fancy freeform quilting on top with lovely holly leaves etc.... but there is so much going on at the moment here that I only had a short time so stuck to squares..... ;)
next I machine sewed on the binding with the same green fabric (the single bed valance) and hand sewed on the binding on the back.... all....the....way....round.... took AGES!!!! I really don't like hand sewing but its tidier than machine sewing.... no way around it really.
So there it is... on the end of the bed!
Next project is coming to and end now too will show you soon.....
But will I manage to deck out the kids rooms with Christmas stuff?
Will I have the time?
Fiskars tools used on this project post...
Happy crafting!

That is a great idea, making a quilt for the foot of the bed and just perfect to have for the holiday season or anytime of the year
Thanks for sharing
