Athabaskan Fur Coat......mittens and slippers spotted by Lyn in Alaska

Well I promised that I would be back with a very special Athabaskan Fur Coat and here it is...isn't it beautiful!!

This coat took over 6 months to create....and is valued at $6,000.00.....if you thought that the front looks lovely.....wait until you see the back of it....

Hours and hours of work has gone into making this fabulous coat using furs from the different animals found in Alaska.....and then beading has been added to finish it off and add some more colours.....

A true LABOUR OF LOVE and the finest of handcrafted sewing and finishing off.....I was amazed at it's beauty!!

I love how the Athabaskans utilise the furs from the animals and turn them into such wonderful handcrafted pieces of clothing.....suitable to wear in the cold WINTER months in ALASKA.

How would you like a pair of slippers like these ones? Made from Beaver.....so soft to touch!!

Day 7 Photo a Day ~Lyn

ok.....so I actually took this self portrait a few days ago of my new ORANGE FISKARS ear rings.....LOL!

These ear rings were given to me by Elizabeth Green from Swan Reach in EAST GIPPSLAND last week....I'm honoured to have received these....handmade by Lizzie herself.....she is unfortunately going blind at a very young age (21)....

Lizzie is a very talented Beader....she is putting together a website at the moment....so I'll keep you all posted if you wish to purchase from her....she is still able to create these....but she is just not sure for how much longer........she does dangly ones in all colours and also short ones.....
