Last minute...

Hi everyone and happy children's day,

I've been a bit snowed under with 'stuff' around my place this week so I wasn't sure that I would get these uploaded today... but here I am and better late than never!

Unfortunately my demo at Spotlight in Mandurah was very quiet on Friday so I made the most of the last hour and made up these layouts for the SCKC.  I have every intention of doing more but this is the 9 that I have completed so far.  I was demonstrating with the  Heidi Grace Urban Acres range so I made those supplies go as far as possible and then I noticed that Spotlight still had some of the Cloud 9 Brittany's castle papers on display so pulled them out of my stash too.

This is such a great cause!

Some pages for SCKC

These first 4 LO's below are using the Cloud 9 Wild Honey range. I thought they would be great pages for a boy to use.

And these next 4 are made using the Heidi Grace Meadow range. So glad to be able to help with this great project and it only took me about an hour to create these pages.

With everything going on in my life lately I wasn't sure I'd get these done. But it is a cause close to my heart and something I really wanted to be a part of.

Before having my own children I taught in schools where a high percentage of kids fitted the 'at risk' category. Kids with character, natural talent and a determination like nothing else. Kids, who given the right opportunities, could become amazing future leaders of our nation. Yet sadly these kids weren't cared for, they came to school without breakfast and often without lunch. I am sure the situation at 'home' was often far worse than I ever got to see.

I remember in my first year of teaching being asked to recommend a boy and girl who most needed to go to 'health camp' as it is called here in NZ. How could I pick just two - they all deserved to go. To spend a week being cared for, nurtured and doing fun stuff. I remember the light in the eyes of the kids when they returned, the sparkle as they recounted the events of the week. How they told me of the things they experienced.

So of course it was easy for me to see the value and potential in making these album pages for the kids that go to SCKC.

I hope that in sharing them here it would encourage even more of you to be involved in this project too. We may not get to meet the amazing kids and buddies that will be at camp but we can be a part of helping them keep the good memories alive for the tough times ahead.

My pages have all been made with Heidi Grace papers, stickers, chipboard and stamps.

Andrea’s Southern Cross Kids Camp pages.

Hi everyone.  Here are some more pages for the Southern Cross Kids Camp.  These were really quick and easy to do – I managed to do 32 pages in a couple of afternoons.  I started off with a base of cardstock giving me 4 pages from the one sheet.  Then I covered it with patterned paper from several different Heidi Grace and Cloud 9 ranges.  Lastly, I added a photo mat and some paper strips for interest.  I wanted to keep it really simple which meant they were quick to do but also allowing the kids room for a title and some journaling if they wish.  This is such a great cause – I enjoyed doing them and hopefully they might make a difference in creating some special memories for some special children.  Here is a selection of some of my pages.
