Report from Aussie Fiskateer Christmas Party - Lyn

What a fun day we had last Friday when 9 Aussie Fiskateers got together for a Fiskary Christmas Party full of laughs and fun.......some Harmonious singing.....LOL!   .......fun games and yummy food!

It was great to see everyone getting into the  Fisk-a- mas Spirit dressing up and wearing plenty of Orange and Green and Christmas Colours! We started the  day with a little Introduction Game.......when in came this gorgeous Fiskary Elf....aka Kathy!!

Isn't she just the cutest Fisk-a-Elf you ever did see!! Kathy made this entire costume from scratch for the day.....and took out the prize for BEST DRESSED!!! Well done Kathy!

We then played NAME THE 9 REINDEEER GAME ....with a 3 minute time restraint....and Kathy finished in about 10 seconds flat.......LOL!  Think this Fiskary-Elf had an unfair advantage seeing she works with SANTA.....LOL! As for the other Fiskateers......well let's just say there were some strange names emerging.....he,he.

We then asked Kathy to sing her answer.....which she did beautifully....another winner and a dip in SANTA'S PRIZE BAG!!

Next game was RUDOLPH BALLOON ANTLERS GAME

The Fiskateers were divided into 2 TEAMS of 4 and had to blow up 8 balloons each team....then TEAM LEADERS had to stuff the balloons into the Stocking Legs in sequence....red,green,red,green,etc.etc.......until all 8 balloons were inside....then TEAM LEADERS had to put the RUDOLPH ANTLERS on their head and stand up........

The idea is to not blow the balloons up very far......as Anna's Team soon realised......so darn funny...

Dianne's Team were worthy winners working very well as a Team and Dianne made a lovely RUDOLPH!

Anna's Team also finished their ANTLERS....and she also made a great RODOLPH!

We then ventured outside and the Fiskateers paired up for the next game

                          WRAP THE CHRISTMAS PRESENT

Each pair had to put one arm around the other and only use one hand each to wrap.......

Judging was done by some of the other Fiskateers.....and we even roped in my hubby Rod for his opinion......LOL!

It was a lot of fun........it's not easy only using one hand.......LOL!

Toni and Lyn managed to wrap their present....

Their ribbon wrapping was very creative.......LOL!

 Tracy and Anna certainly Teamed up well to wrap their present....they worked out right from the start...who was right handed and who was lefthanded....very clever ladies!!

Sandra's task was to unwrap the presents using only Stove Mittens and Glove.....

and that Fiskary Elf.......Kathy had even painted her nails Orange and Green enamel

After about an hour of fun and games we moved back inside to enjoy a lovely lunch ........all Fiskateers brought along some yummy food to share......

Tracy's hubby Anthony made these yummy choc chip cakes and Tracy created the fun Fiskary Toppers.....................putting her Fiskars Punches to great use!

We had so much food........we were all bursting by the end of the day.......LOL!

Kathy instructed us all to make sure we ate the correct rum balls.....the ones in the GREEN wrappers had alchohol in them......LOL!

After eating ourselves silly with the savouries....we had a little break to work up some more appetite to eat the yummy SWEETS.....so what better way than to sing the AUSSIE JINGLE BELLS SONG......OMG.......the Harmonious singing was just too much for me........I was video taping it.......and just totally lost control...........so darn funny!!!

After lunch we had a fun HAPPY HOUR where I taught a little fun MAKE'N'TAKE using the Fiskars BOW MAKER.......some bells,holly,berries and wired ribbons...........each Fiskateer then created one or two fun BOWS.....

It was lovely to see the Fiskateers all helping one another and chatting way having some crafty fun!

Everyone made a different Bow......and we had a little SHOW AND TELL at the end.....

Sisters Anna and Toni  created some gorgeous BOWS......Kathy,Tracy and Rosemary all chatted away creating fun BOWS by adding in some fun embellishments to the wired ribbon before they used the Fiskars Bow Maker to attach the clip!

It really was a fun day and Rod and I loved having everyone up here at our home....

Tracy not only wore a gorgeous handmade Fiskary Flower.....she also presented me with one....

THANK YOU so much Tracy.......I'll wear it with Fiskary Pride!!

I really loved Rosemary's colour combination for her Christmas BOW!

Lyn Smith presented me with this gorgeous handmade Card and Gift Box House filled with yummy chocolates.........thanks Lyn! She had used several Fiskars Punches and Scissors to create it.......I love it.....

At the end of the day Anna presented me with this gorgeous THANK YOU STAR DECORATION she had made and had got the other Fiskateers to write a little message in.....

Thank you so much Anna and everyone......I shall treasure this...and it's now on our Christmas Tree.....

It folds up so neatly......very creative and clever......

Halloween Party

Halloween is a popular time for parties. I have seen so many wonderfully scary parties, but I wanted to set out to design some festivities that wouldn’t be too spooky for the kids! And of course, I turned to my trusty Fiskars tools to make the job quick and easy.

If your guests will be sitting down at the table to eat, consider turning it into a dramatic scene instead of opting for a standard centerpiece. Here I turned utilitarian paper plates into spiders crawling on a gigantic web.

The web is simply masking tape. I used a fabric tablecloth and knew masking tape would remove easily post party. You could also use a disposable party tablecloth though the tape likely wouldn’t remove easily for future use depending on the material. To create the web, I started with a long strip of tape from one corner of the table diagonally to the opposing corner. I then added a few radiating strips from the same beginning corner. I went back and cut small pieces to fill in between each of these strips. You could also begin in the middle with criss-crossing strips to center a web.

Whenever cutting anything with adhesive, such as tape, I am sure to reach for my non-stick scissors.

I wanted the spider plates to be goofy with a little personality, so they were given long, crimped legs and mismatched eyes. For the legs, cut eight 8.5 inch long half-inch strips of black cardstock with your paper trimmer, and run each leg through the paper crimper. Fold each strip in half and fold back a small tab at each end. Hot glue one tab under the rim of a black paper plate. Continue with four total legs on each side. Punch circles for eyes and hot glue to the edge of the plate facing each guest.

To keep the menu easy, I decided on assorted sandwiches. To keep the menu fun, I decided on assorted sand-witches!

I came up with a super simple way to make witch boots using a very unexpected tool, the Boundary Waters border punch. Run a 3/4 inch wide strip of black cardstock through the border punch and cut into sections as shown, at the bottom of each large curl. Trim off the small curl with scissors and cut a small triangle into the heel.

Add a striped leg to each boot and adhere to toothpicks. Insert in pairs into sandwiches for a non-spooky take on witches. Mix it up by adding stars and witch hats. The limited edition ‘Hats Off’ lever punch is a great witch hat. Add a small trim of color and a 1/4 inch star for easy embellishment.

These witch legs would also make adorable cupcake toppers.

Another limited edition lever punch that I consider a must-have is ‘Laughin Jack’. This jack-o-lantern face could add instant personality to all kinds of party items. Punch it from yellow cardstock to layer onto any black party items or goodie bags, or punch from black to add to orange items, such as these paper cups.

Send your guests home with a goodie bag featuring one last way to turn something spooky into kid-friendly. I found this awesome, hairy spider on the ‘Creepy Crawly’ stamp set and knew it would work well for a “thanks for dropping by” sentiment. I stamped him directly onto small treat bags and cut a small slit using a craft knife to insert white string, which I taped inside to secure. Staple the string at the top of the folded bag once stuffed for an interactive web. To give the spider a sillier look for the kids, add small googly eyes! Googly eyes just make anything adorable.

Whether you are planning a spooky or not-so-spooky Halloween party, be sure to put your Fiskars tools to work to make the job both easy and fun!

A friend of mine wanted something different for her business cards so that her business stuck out from everyone elses in her field of work.... catering. So I made these for her.

Birthday Cakes and texture plates

Just recently my daughter had her birthday party and I made her a cake....

Hopefully you see the swirls in the background... anyway you will see them in this simple tutorial...

Print out two copies of a picture from your computer (I used a colouring in page from the internet)

I used Fiskars No 8 scissors and Fiskars finger tip craft knife for cutting out the pieces.

Next I bought soft white icing from the supermarket and took out my desired Fiskars texture plate.

Then mixed my desired colours for my pieces.

I separated out the icing into various blobs and put a couple of drops of each desired colour into them. Leaving one big blog white for my background. The back of the Hansells packet has a very handy colour mixing guide.

I then rolled out my large white blob of icing and put it over my cake.
Then pressed the side of the Fiskars texture plate I wanted into my icing. (washing the plate first under warm soapy water of course and drying it)

And the result...

Then I rolled out my other colour blobs of icing and cut out with the finger tip craft knife (which the blade was new and cleaned for this project)

I then wet the opposite side of the cut out shape a little and stuck it on my cake.
Repeat for all pieces. The other printed out picture is a guide and then a colouring in project for your birthday person. ;)

The finished project again..

and some cupcakes doing something similar for the background and rolling left over icing to make the flowers putting eatable silver sprinkles in the center.
