My Special Fiskateer Scissors have been getting a good work out.....they are sooooooooo sharp....and very handy.......................

Daffofil Day today ~ August 28th

Did you know that it's daffodil Day today? I chose to show this flower from our garden today....seeing it's the last day of sharing ORANGE! Don't you love the centre....so bright and cheery!

So if you are out and about and see some bunches of daffodils for sale.....or other Daffodil Day merchandise......why not purchase some .....all money goes to the CANCER COUNCIL!

Such a worthy cause.......I lost both parents to this awful disease.....my DAD would have been 83 today......yes...ironically DAFFODIL DAY this year is on his birthday!!

I took some daffodils to the cemetery yesterday....and had a little bit to say to both my mum and dad before leaving these gorgeous flowers with them!

Paper Possibilities Retreat Update

Hi all

As promised i have some photos to share of the Paper Possibilities Retreat.

A wonderful weekend was had by all at The Palm Royale in Cairns. Plenty of laughing, good company, classes, and scrapping goodness!!

Fellow Ambassador Ngaire Bartlam also joined us again this year, a highlight to be sure!!

Here are all the girls with their FISKARS aprons on, which were a permanent adornment the whole weekend!! A BIG THANKYOU TO FISKARS for their generosity.

Hilary came to the retreat and posed many times with the girls and in turn they were very generous in plying her beautiful glomesh purse full of donations for the Fiskars Girls Night In fundraiser.

THANKYOU GIRLS AND MEL AND NICKI for your generosity, all up we raised $203 to add to the kitty, an AWESOME EFFORT AND MUCH APPRECIATED.

So as you can see, we had an absolute blast and look forward to doing it again next year!!

through the eyes of a child...

My life up until aged 12 was that of any normal kid growing up in a country town.
That was all to change that day my Mum's aggressive breast cancer was diagnosed. It was 1980, and I had two younger siblings... my sister was 10 and my brother was 7 and a half. My dad's face as he explained to me about  Mum's cancer is etched into my memory. I had never seen my Dad cry up until that day.. and it was the first of many many times... as we all lived through Mum's surgery and post operative care.

The ways and means of dealing with breast cancer were far different to those of today. Mums surgery was immediate and brutal. She lost all of her left breast, and all the glands up into her arm as well. There was no reconstruction, no plastic surgery .. and a scar, the likes of which I have not seen otherwise, carves across her chest to this day.

But that is the beauty of this story.. Mum is a survivor.  How?  I have no idea really.

I don't know that she was meant to survive, the cancer was fast growing  and had all the doctors extremely worried. What I do  I know is that, to Mum, there was simply no other choice. She had three kids.. one very young...and  I believe it was her determination that she had to be there for us.. that gave her the healing that she needed.

I share this story, because as you can see... early detection.. even in the most dire of situations, can mean the difference between  life and death.   Mum is in her seventies now.. and has lived to see all four of her grandchildren. I still have the mother I could have lost at twelve. My life would have been  different.  Very very different.

If for NO other reason.. give your kids the life they deserve, be there for them.

Be diligent with your month breast exams.

Go immediately with any changes to your doctor.

Hassle your girlfriends to do the same.

Donate to breast cancer research.

and perhaps one day ... we will grow old knowing our own daughters are free of this disease.

I simply couldnt ask for anything more.

Without further ado this is how it will work.

• If something takes your fancy (trust me something will!!) then all you have to do is look at the bottom of the particular Lot # you are interested in and email the details through on the link given.
• You need to provide your NAME, THE LOT #, AND THE AMOUNT YOU WISH TO BID.

• As this is a "silent auction" no names will be published throughout, however silent auction updates will be given thoughout the week so that you can follow what your desired Lot is up to.
• The auction will commence on Monday 27th October and finish at 10.00pm EST on the 30th October, corresponding with our Girls Night In.
• Auction bids will be recorded as they come in and the highest bid will win that Lot.
• At the close of the auction the winning bidder will be notified by email and given  ONE HOUR to pay ONLINE details can be viewed  here 
• As soon as payment has been received the winning bidder will be published.
• As this auction is purely for fundraising it is open to all, including Ambassadors and it will be strictly adhered to that the highest bid wins.
