The Card Purse.....

By now you know that I love giving out random pressies to the ladies at church and this week was no exeception.

I found a great tutorial on how to make a card purse on line (via Pinterest) and decided to give it a go.

Here is what I made from that tutorial.... I love learning from others, new ways to do things. I'm constantly watching tutorials on you tube and looking at crafters blogs. It helps keep me fresh and my mojo doesn't go on holiday.

The base of my purse outside was cereal boxes instead of chipboard. Basically the same thing anyway. ;)

The green cardstock is from Stampin Up!
The patterned papers are from Wherehouse Stationery - Grace Taylor vintage elegance scrapbook kit.
My own handmade pink/white tissue paper twine. My Tutorial vid is here.

sewing - Felt heart monster pouch for boys - tutorial

Hi all
something for the boys for valentines day....
A felt heart monster pouch for their little things....

You will need:
Fiskars quilt cutting mat
Fiskars Supersized hearts
Fiskars pinking shears
Fiskars scissors
Fiskars titanium rotary cutter

other items used:
sewing machine, thread, pins, taylors chalk pencil, various felt pieces.

1. draw out your large heart with the template and taylors chalk

2. cut it out. Then using other felt pieces make up another heart the same size...

3. sew a middle strip to the bottom of the heart...

4. Cut out a handle and pin/sew it to the top of the heart.... also attaching it to the black back heart.

5. cut out pieces for the eyes and mouth...and sew them in place onto the front half heart we made at step 3

6. lay the face panel ontop of the back panel and sew around the outside.... and your heart is finished.

hang it in a spot your son can find it when he gets home from school.... with his favourite things inside it... ;)

Sewing - Felt Heart Box with tutorial

Hi all

I had some felt lying around so decided to get onto creating with it....

This Heart Felt Box is made very quickly and for my daughters small hair accessories. But you can put anything in it....

You will need:
Fiskars supersized hearts templates
Fiskars Pinking shears
Fiskars Titanium rotary cutter
Fiskars Square quilt ruler
Fiskars Quilt cutting mat

Also used:
sewing machine, thread, taylors chalk pencil, black and red felt squares

1. get out your felt squares...

2. Cut out 2 strips 3" wide

3. mark and cut out a large heart
 

4. sew both ends of the red 3" strips but make sure one is on the inside and one on the outside to make a heart - as pictured.
 

5. Trim with pinking shears to make it look tidy.


6. Pin then sew the red heart sides to the black heart bottom




7. trim edges with your pinking shears and you are finished!
Now fill it with the things you love...

Create beautiful bows from patterned paper!

Want to put a creative twist on your gift wrap this holiday season? Grab a few sheets of patterned paper and your favorite Fiskars trimmer, and create unique bows for all of your gift giving.

Instructions:
1.    Trim patterned paper into ¾ inch strips. You’ll need three 10 inch strips, two 8.5 inch, and one 4 inch strip for an average sized bow.

2.    Twist the strips of paper to form a loop on each end. Secure with a small staple.

3.    Layer the loops, starting with the largest on the bottom. Use glue dots to hold each layer.
 
4.    Finish with the smallest loop in the center.

5.    For added interest, cut decorative ribbons from patterned paper to use for the center loop.

Gift Boxes from Used Cards

With the festive season well and truelly here...why not recyle some of your old Christmas Cards and turn them into some fun little Gift Boxes......

                                       (turn your sound UP )

These are great for all those little presents....you know....Jewellery,soaps,sweets,cufflinks,Gift Cards,Memory Cards,USB,etc. These could also be used for Teacher Gifts....maybe fill them with Kids Stamps,stickers or perhaps a little bottle of perfume or soaps.....just a thought..................

You could also adapt this idea using other cards.....eg.. Birthday,Wedding.....nice to be able to recyle and reuse those lovely cards.

Hi Lyn,

 

I have attached a small box (9.5cm square) decorated with two of the new border punches. 

The flower on top is made with 6 scallop hearts punched out, then folded in half and then each side in half again. I stuck them on with craft glue due to only a small part touching the glue and onto a scalloped circle, then onto the square.  It is finished with a pearl heart.
