To keep my little man occupied while he wait outs his chicken pox to leave I decided to make some sewing “buddies” for him to play with.
Here is how to make these “sewing buddies” for your 3-5 yr old.
1. you will need a template, hand hole punch, something to cut the shapes out with and some light cardstock and some string or wool.
I used Fiskars cutting mat, Fiskars shape template – coastal, Fiskars 1/4″ hand hole punch.
2. Cut out your shape and punch holes all around it.
3. Take some string or wool and cut a length of it off and tie it to the shape.
4. Now give it to your child and let them put the string where ever they want in and out of the holes. Where is not important. This is teaching them small motor skills.
5. My little mans result is this….
You man need to tie it off to finish it.
6. Why not string a lot together with some thin ribbon or like I did some curling ribbon from an old present.
Ethan was so chuffed with his mobile he made. We have it hanging in his room.
It kept him occupied for about 30 or so minutes and kept his mind off his spots.
