Kids Crafting – Octopus Puppet

Difficulty rating: Beginner

What child would not want to make this cute little octopus? Did you know that this little fella is made out of an empty toilet paper roll? Plan a creative earth-friendly activity with your kid/s to bring this adorable creature to life using items that are readily available at home. Decorate your mini octopus with dots, stripes, buttons, googley eyes, and more!

Instructions:

1. Wad about 3 sheets of kleenex into a ball, then wrap the ball with 1 more kleenex sheet. Insert it at the top of the tube to create a domed head for the octopus.

2. Paint the outside of the tube and the top of the head. Let dry.

3. Using a decorative paper edger, make 8 equal vertical cuts halfway up the tube to make the tentacles.

 

4. Curl each tentacle upwards by rolling them on a sharpie marker.

5. Paint the underside of each tentacle.

6. Use buttons for eyes and use the "cup handle" of the Bistro Brew squeeze punch for the smiling mouth.

7. Add 1/4 inch circles using a contrasting colored cardstock. Adhere the dots all over the octopus' body. Add a band around its head.

Kids Challenge ~ Challenge 2 by Meagan aged 10

I have attached Meagan's entry in the April Kids Challenge, sorry for leaving it to the last minute. She has chosen to enter category 2: Cover one of your school books,diary,binder or pencil case using scissors,trimmer ,some punches...and a splash of paint. Meagan aged 10, found a Notebook that she has and uses to write all sorts of thing in, and decided to pretty it up! She found amongst my stash some old Cloud 9 paper to cover the notebook, then used scraps of cardstock ,flowers ,and chipboard letters to complete the challenge. To meet the requirements of the challenge she has used scissors and fiskars trimmer to cut out the paper,she has used the treading water punch, arrow punch, and scallop punch. Meagan also enjoyed getting the paint out to paint the chipboard letters and then drizzle the contrasting paint on the letters and flowers. Thanks so much for doing these challenges, Meagan really enjoys participating.

"KIDS CHALLENGES" GO FOR IT KIDS ~

Hi everyone,

Well as promised we are running some more KIDS CHALLENGES for the whole month of APRIL!

Some children will already be on school holidays now and others may be starting in a week or so.....so we have decided to give you all until April 30th to get your entries in.

Once again we'll create a KIDS CHALLENGE  ALBUM for APRIL whereby the Kids Challenges shall be uploaded as they come in so that we can share their wonderful work with all our readers.

...ok....here are the Challenges :

1) Create something fun and original using any 2 FISKARS TOOLS!

2) Cover one of your school books,diary,binder or pencil case using scissors,trimmer ,some punches...and a splash of paint.

3) Create a card using some bright products,3 buttons,2 stars and 1 piece of ribbon.

This time around we are trying to challenge the kids a bit more with their creativity and also want to encourage individual projects......so how does that sound?

If there are any questions then feel free to ask in the comments section below and we'll answer them for you asap......

So kids.....start putting those thinking caps on....and have some fun crafting these holidays.....we can't wait to see what you come up with ......and we have some fabulous FISKARS prizes to give to our winners.......

Kids Challenges ~ Rhiannon aged 13 (Tasmania)

Rhiannon from Tasmania has sent through this wonderful Card that she created for Challenge 1 of the APRIL Kids Challenges.

She has used the FISKARS trimmer and Softouch Scissors to create her card.......so good to see kids using the Fiskars Tools!!

Well done Rhiannon.....her younger sister Gemma has also sent through her second challenge entry......this time for Challenge 3.

 We love seeing Kids Crafting.....it's such a fun thing for them to do! There are still 10 days left for the kids to get their entries in to us here at Fiskars Craft.....by April 30th.

Kids Challenges for APRIL

Hi everyone,

Well it's the last day of the School Holidays in some States of Australia today but that doesn't mean the end of fun for the Kids.

FISKARS shall be donating some great prizes for each Challenge Winner.

We have Kids Challenges still going on here until April 30th....so kids you still have 14 days to get those entries in to us.

We love seeing Kids Crafting......take a peek at some of the entries so far over in the April Kids Album on the lefthand sidebar. Whilst over there feel free to take a peek at the Kids Challenge entries in January this year.........they have sure done a great job haven't they!!

Kids Challenge~ April Isobel & Rachael aged 9 years

Hi Guys,

My daughter Isobel (on the right) and her friend Rachel decided to make cards for the challenge. Both girls are aged 9 yo and love to make cards and scrapbook.(Challenge 3)

 

Fiskars tools used: scissors, cutter, embossing plates and 1/8" hole punch for the brads.

They had a lot of fun deciding which cardstock to use and then finding matching paper from my scraps box!

What fun cards girls...love how you have placed the brads ...and also how you have used both cardstock and patterned paper!

Kids Challenge ~ Gemma aged 10

Hi everyone,

How are the kids going with the KIDS CHALLENGES?

Gemma aged 10 has sent this latest entry into us for Challenge 1. She has used some of the gorgeous Cloud 9 Vellum flowers...

Gemma has created this fun embellished pencil case even though she has a broken arm.....what a great effort Gemma!!

She tells us that she also used the FISKARS Trimmer to create her completed project........what a great idea Gemma to decorate your pencil case......making it so pretty now.....

I bet all your friends will want one now.......he,he.
