Yep took some rather ordinary photos yesterday (a whole 4 of them!) and a few more today!

These were our bargin in the school holidays. We were in the right place at the right time and they were $1 each. The kids had fun turning them into Space Teddies with Sharpie markers.

Up close with some soft pastels. Arent the colours gorgeous!

This is what caught my attention today. Grapes half hanging out of the fruit bowl. Not exactly sure why they are like that! LOL

Hmmm what to photo today! I had a couple of ideas but ended up chosing these! Faber Castell markers which are used constantly in this household. I dont think a day goes past without one or both kids using these to create with.

Do you use your camera on manual. Here are some approximate exposures for hard to meter scenes (using iso 400)

Stage scenes, sports arena, circus event      1/60 sec     f/2.8

Brightly lighted downtown street at night, lighted store window     1/60 sec     f/4

City Skyline at night                                    1 sec         f/2.8

Skyline just after sunset                              1/60 sec    f/5.6

Candlelit Scene                                           1/8 sec      f/2.8

Campfire Scene, burning building at night    1/60 sec    f/4

Fireworks against dark sky           1 sec (or keep shutter open for more than 1 display     f/16

Fireworks on Ground                    1/60 sec                    f/4

Ahh today school started back so just had to take a photo of the lunch boxes being filled!

Photography Challenge October 1

Welcome to the first day of the photography challenge for the month on October. The challenge is to try to take a photo everyday for the month of October. It doesn't matter if you miss a day or start late, the key thing is to try and join in as much as possible. Your subject can be your everyday life or something that takes your eye. Anything. Different ambassadors will post photos into the days thread during each day so check back to see more photos. And we would love you to share a link to your photo in the comments.

The object of this challenge is to have fun with your camera, use your camera everyday and look more closely at your surroundings for photo opportunities. I cant wait to see everybody's photos.

Lesley Cooper - Day 3 of the school holidays. I tried to have a sleep in but my bed got invaded! LOL.

Debbie - My tip: I took about 28 random photos of Ethan playing with the camera - pulling it and playing close to me and got this surprise photo. Take as many photos of an event, Even if you think they are dumb. You may come up something that really takes your fancy! Aren't digital cameras great?!

Cindy - Here's my pic.  It's of my son Kade with his two most favourite things at the moment...his new car, and his favourite tv show 'In The Night Garden'.

I participated in a similar challenge a few years ago and it was hard but it was also a wonderful learning curve. I found it so beneficial in improving my photography.
