Many of you know that I am passionate about being thankful for the amazing things that I believe God has put into my life. These range from the small and random (like choc mint icecream and timers on ovens - who invented those???!!!!) to the bigger stuff (like our Autistic son snuggling into me and telling me that one of his favourite things is my cuddles). I try and take note of these on my blog and sometimes in another journal i keep. Other times my thanks just manifests itself in prayer and praise and at other times on scraplayouts and in cards I write to people to let them know i appreciate them.
I believe that our lives are made up of small and often mundane moments and that we have a choice to be thankful for the ride; to stop and be living 'in the moment'. It is a choice and one that I proactively seek to pass on to my kids. Does it mean my life is a bed of roses? Heck no! But when I travel through the hard stuff I find that being able to practice and maintain a thankful heart is much easier and makes for better less stressful living! And let's face it, who couldn't do with a little less stressful living?
So anyway, I wanted to make my sisters a thankful journal recently and I found some cute little notebooks and decided to do a quick alter using some of the fantastic (and cheery!) Fiskars Brands products. Here's what i did and what you could do too!
step one:
take a coloured hardcover notebook (or two!)...
step two:
Gather together some cute Heidi Grace We Are Family products and some Zingz too!...
then...Take some of the beautiful Heidi Grace Designs Shimmer Foiled Paper - We are family/Bird on Branches paper and adhere to the cover leaving a space above and below to reveal the coloured cover underneath.
step three:
the Heidi Grace We Are Family Icon Rubons are just lovely. take some and rub them on to the top of the cover to create a little border. They were so easy to pop onto the cover!...
step four:
add some dimensional flower stickers (all the hard work is done for you with these beauties!) to the bottom of the cover...
step five:
now add some zingz to each petal...
add a big We are Family cardstock sticker letter standing for the inital of the person whom the journal will belong to.
step seven:
write an inscription on the first page (and add any left over rub ons to the top of the page)...
step eight:
complete your thankful journal by adding alpha stickers identifying it as such, to the front cover. here is the one for my sister Mira...
and here is the other one for my sister dee (who incidently backed Kim Wylde last night on the AFL grandfinal football show!)...
I think they will love these :) I hope they do anyway! lol :)
Well may you choose to be thankful today!I've found that the more I do it the easier to do it gets :)
Hebrews 12:28 "Let us be thankful..."
Happy crafting (and b/c my best friend who madly barracks for Geelong is overseas, let me say for her "Go Geelong!" )
