We love seeing all the latest Challenge entries that have been sent in by our readers.....this latest LAYOUT comes from Danice from New Zealand........isn't it just gorgeous....sort of makes you clucky doesn't it......LOL!

Danice has used her Fiskars Threading Water Border Punch and Fiskars Vellum Flowers.

Beautiful Happy Mail

What an awesome month last month....

Here is this months challenges for both Paper Crafting AND Sewing.

• And be able to take a clear photo of your project so we can see it.
• You may enter ONE papercraft project and/or ONE sewing project (making it a possible 2 entries a month!)

For those that are interested in Paper Crafting, here is your challenge..
Do a layout or project inspired by the following sketch (or if "off the page project" use the spring colour  yellow somewhere on your project)

Here is my example:

I used:

• Fiskars Utra Shape Express in freehand mode to cut out the swirls and the lettering.
• Fiskars squeeze punches - XL seal of approval (scalloped circle), L Twinkle twinkle (star), M may flower (sparkle shape)
• Fiskars Interchangeable boarder punch - with daisy chain cartridge
• Fiskars Microtip scissors
• Fiskars cutting mat

Sewing Challenge:

Sew anything up using a sewing machine and a fiskars tool using the colour of Spring.... yellow.

It could be a bag, a quilt block, a purse, a beach totebag, a sun hat - anything!

Beryl has taken up the August Challenges

With only a few hours left we still have entries coming through for the AUGUST CHALLENGES....these two have been sent in by Beryl from New Zealand.....here's what she had to say earlier today

Tools I have used:

My wonderful Fiskar slide cutter, self-healing cutting mat,  finger knife & folding scissors,
were used in the making of this card.  (sorry can't remember correct names for the tools,
had a fall Tuesday & still shaken up)

......and for the SEWING CHALLENGE

My quilted 'Olympic Mug Mat'  (8"x5")  The fabric cut using my Fiskars, 45mm rotary cutter on my Fiskars Self-Healing mat & the threads
were trimmed using my Fiskars thread snips.
 

PS:  I used my Cuttlebug to cut the fabric circles & iron-on webbing.  Look forward to the day that I will be able to do that on the new Fuse.

Tracy's August Challenge Entry

Have you finished off your entries for the Monthly Challenge for August yet?

I've had a few health issues and lost my crafty mojo for a while there, so I am really pleased to get my sketch entry completed tonight.

Here is what I gathered together when Debbie first posted the challenges
... but sadly I just couldn't work out what to do with these gold, silver & bronze medallions and brads!

A trip to Spotlight and seeing some vellum with a gold circle pattern printed on it had me inspired to make this card for my Grandpa for Father's Day.

Here is a close up so that you can see the printed design on the vellum ... it is quite pretty.  The vellum is secured in place using brads, with a dob of glue at the back behind the flowers to hold it down flat against the card base.

How many Fiskars tools do you think I used?

The answer is EIGHT - including my trusty green Self Healing Craft Mat and Fingertip Craft Knife (both currently on sale at Spotlight), 1/8" Circle Plier Punch (for the brads in each corner), XL Tag You're It Squeeze Punch (for the sentiment) Scalloped Sentiment Border Punch (for the flower stems) and last but defintely not least, a combination of large Round 'n Round, medium Seal of Approval & medium Round 'n Round Squeeze Punches (for the flowers).  Fiskars punches are currently on sale at Spotlight, a real bargain with 30% off!!!

The card base is from Fundamentals, yes, another purchase from Spotlight.  I really wanted the colours of my punched embellishments to match the card base, so I have to confess that I actually used a gold and a white cardbase to make the flowers and sentiment tag.  Don't worry though, the rest of the "punched" card bases will be used to make some more cards soon.

If you're interested in making ric rak with your Scalloped Sentiment Border Punch, here is how I made mine.  I started with a 3/4 strip of cardstock and punched along one side, then turned the strip around, offset the strip by one square on the punch, then punched along to complete the paper ric rak.

Hi

Here are my entries - they are not quite what I first imagined but we have been the house of sick this month and to top it off I have badly sprained my ankle so moving around isn't easy.

Anyway I did manage to complete both challenges, an olympic layout (using my Fiskars template and USX cutter, paper trimmer and scissors) and a little skirt for my daughters doll (using my fiskar scissors).

 

Sorry also for the photos (taken with my phone as my camera battery is flat)
