Card a Day - Monocrome stamped card (tutorial)

Hi all I'm back!

Hope you are all finding time to make some Christmas cards.
Here is my next one... We are going a little monocrome but not fully....

Here is how I did it:

1. I cut a front panel for the card from similar colour of the card base.
2. Then I used a Fiskars Med lever circle punch to punch out 1/4 circles from the corners of it.
3. Next I used Kaisercraft twig and berry range Flourish clear stamps with the Fiskars Stamp Press and Stampin Up! ink pad - crumb cake (which was a similar but darker shade of the cardstock I was using)
4. The flourish was stamped at the top of the panel. Then I stamped "Merry" (old cloud9 clear stamp) and "Christmas" (Paperxtra clear stamp) on the bottom of the panel.
5. I tied some ribbon around the blank part of the panel and put some Kaisercraft red rhinestones on the flourish.
6. I used foam adheasive to pop up the panel on the card base front.
7. done!

Simple easy and fun... see my theme I have here... I like quick too. Especially this time of the year!

product spotting in Christchurch Spotlight

Armed with a $10.00 discount voucher for Spotlight, a trip just had to be made today.  lol!  I am so glad that I went as I spotted border punches on special at 30% off. 

DH found me a stamp factory reduced to $15.00 minus an ink pad, so that had to find its way into my trolley plus an ink pad.

Then he found the Fiskars drill,  that has gone on my wish list, plus a pair of Fiskars kitchen shears for $6.99 so they got added to the trolley.  I did enjoy seeing all the wonderful Fiskar products & tools, interchangable punches, eyelets, trimmers & lots more to be added to the wish list.  Then after a trip to the quiltingdepartment, (photo #1 - selvedges from fabric bought) I came home a very happy shopper & enjoyed using the $10.00 voucher.

Pretty Pink layout

Hi all
My little lady broke her elbow a few months ago and now I finally have the chance to scrapbook the photos.....

 

I used the Interchangable starter set boarder punch in the swirl on the top of the layout...

And you also see my other punches put to use.... leaf it to me squeeze punch, Med flower leaver punch, May flower squeeze punch.... I also took out my Fiskars decorative scissors: Boudouir and use them on the photos and photomat.

The stamps used are from the Fiskars - True love stamp set with the Fiskars Stamp Press. Coloured them in with Pearlex mixed with Jacquard gum arabic.

Fiskars Interchangeable Border Punch + Burst Everywhere Punch

I have had some wonderful HAPPY MAIL this week from both STAMPIN UP and FISKARS so I finally had a play tonight with some of the fabulous goodies to create this fun birthday card for my great niece Kimberley who turns TWO today......

We are attending her party this afternoon......

I must admit I had such fun playing with the NEW FISKARS INTERCHANGEABLE BORDER PUNCH - BANNERS AWAY....and the NEW CARTRIDGE for my FISKARS EVERYWHERE PUNCH- BURST....I thought these two punches complimented each other on this card.

Next I used my NEW STAMPIN UP Four Frames Stamp and Melon Mambo Ink Pad to stamp an image on white cardstock.

 The sentiment is also a STAMPIN UP stamp that was given to me by a friend....thanks Pam!

I used the Tempting Turquoise Ink Pad for this as I thought it looked great against the background cardstock........................also from STAMPIN UP.......thanks guys!

 I then punched out the image with my NEW STAMPIN UP Punch - Decorative Label

I love how STAMPIN UP have these co-ordinating stamps and punches.....just fabulous!!!

Paper is from the Stampin Up - Designer Series Paper

Cardstock is from Stampin Up - A4 Smooth Cardstock

Clown and flower embellishments were in my stash......thought they looked cute and added some more colour......

I can't wait to play some more with these fabulous tools.....that arrived yesterday!!

I'll be back in a few days with more fun projects using these fabulous NEW Fiskars Tools................the Interchangeable Border Punches are sooooo user friendly.....great colours...and they stack so that you can easily store them....with the Design on the front......just fabulous!!!!

Materials

Square Easel Card

Green Paper

Instructions

Step 1

Trim 2 pieces of green paper to measure slightly smaller than the front and inside of the easel card.

Step 2

On the front section, print dragonfly pattern using the Continuous Stamping Wheel™ leaving a border at the left hand edge. Ink around the edge with the brown ink pad.

Fix seam binding ribbon and decorate with a double bow.

Step 3

Trim white paper to 2" x 4" and green slightly smaller. Fix together using double sided tape. Punch circles from brown paper using Lever Punch Circle.

Use 3 circles to create a scalloped edge on the mat fixing behind and fix the bottom circle as shown. Cut one circle in half and fix to the edges of the mat.

Step 4

Punch one of each scalloped circle. Ink the edges with brown ink pad and snip into the centre all round to create a ruffled flower. Fix together with the jewel brad and fix to mat with 3D foam pads. Create the stem with a fine liner pen. Punch a scalloped circle from green paper and cut to create a small heart shape for the leaf and fix with a 3D foam pad.

Punch a butterfly from green paper. Decorate with self adhesive pearls and fix as shown.

Step 5

On the inside section, create an aperture using the Everywhere Window Punch™. Ink the edges with brown ink pad. Decorate with punched circles. Fix calendar on 3D Foam Pads.

Here are a few more Xmas Card shares.....I have loved making my cards this season....

Having the Gold Cardstock from the FUNDAMENTALS Range along with the rub-ons,ribbon and flourishes....sure made it quick and easy to get these completed......

I had fun using my Fiskars Everywhere Punch to create some fun windows...........and my Fiskars Designer Scissors to create the Felt Tree....then the side of the tree is snipped with Microtip Scissors!

The Fiskars Border Punches also had a great workout!

 

** TIPS **  When stamping a Sentiment on a card....try using different coloured inks and see the different effects you can get.

******** it's amazing what you can achieve with a couple of punches and a piece of ribbon

Getting crafting with the kids for Christmas

This year making cards has been a huge task due to family commitments, Volleyball trip interstate and study commitments adding to the normal hum drum of family life. I had several bucket loads of cards to get make and time wasn't on our side this year, so I enlisted the help of my kids to get them all done. Plus the fact that it was nice for them to be able to tell their friends that they had actually helped make them.

Every year my son give a card to everyone in his class and makes gingerbread people to give them. We made the gingerbread people this weekend and hope to get their button "stuck" on with royal icing through the week.. that is the gingerbread people survive the week with Miss Tarryn on the prowl... she LOVE gingerbread and consumes it like no one I have ever seen!

So.. I order to get Nate's cards all done in record time we decided to keep it simple. Some simple punching and inking and then it would all be done. While I had precut the main pieces I set Nate to one side with a couple of Fiskars punches (XL Scalloped Circle Punch and L Round and Round Punch), and told him we need 26 of each. He had a jolly old time punching his little heart out!

Now I can tell you will all the stamping that was involved (tree for circle and greeting inside the card) I WAS NOT going to do it all with my little stamp blocks.. the job was made a lot easier by my son Nate being able to use my Fiskars Stamp Factory.. no mess and he was able to do it all by himself as it was a breeze for him to use. We added a little bit of kindy glitz to the cards and then they were all done in a couple of hours!

And for the Calisthenics girls we went all girlie. Lots of pink, purple and sparkle... what Cali girl doesn't like sparkles! I had to do these one's myself as Kiah and Tarryn weren't able to help quite as much with these.... they did however choose the papers, add the trees (with a little help) and SUPERVISE... hehehehehehe.

Must say that thanks to Fiskars my card making this year was made a lot easier! Was a breeze to get all these cards made in one day and I am glad to be hanging up my Christmas card making hat for the year!
