mmmmmm which heart should I use?

Hi everyone,

At the moment I'm sorting through my Fiskars Tools to try and find a heart shape or two that I can use for Valentine's Day....which is coming around soooooooooo quickly this year........FISKARS make some fabulous heart tools.......here's a few of mine

Fiskars Heart templates are so easy to use with a Fiskars Craft Mat and the Fiskars Shapecutter.....I even spotted a little heart on my Fiskars Envelope Template.

......and there is also a little heart shape on the Fiskars Tree 12" x 12" template.....

These 12" x 12" Fiskars Templates are still available in Lincraft Stores.....I've seen them recently in Knox Lincraft Store in Victoria.

Maybe I should try some embossing with this Fiskars heart embossing texture plate and Texturing Tool or Stylus.......mmmmm....now there's a thought....I haven't even looked in my Scrapboss System yet......I'm sure I have a few hearts on some embossing templates that are in that.

Now this little Heart Corner Lever Punch would be great for the corners of a card...or perhaps I could use my Fiskars 3 in 1 Corner Squeeze Punch.

See the tiny little hearts...aren't they cute! I do have a couple of favourite heart squeeze punches.......I must admit these get used quite often in my projects.

I kept sorting through my tools and also came across my Fiskars Heart Hand Punch

                        mmmmmmmmm...what to do with this?

       Maybe I'll use one of the older Fiskars Heart Border Punches......

I haven't even looked through my Fiskars Stamps yet.....but I know I have plenty of heart stamps to choose from.....might save those for my next post....see you back here soon.............................

Some snowman fun

We have a few gift cards on our Christmas list this year and I thought I would add a little giggle to their gift with one of these ...

They are quick and easy to make too.  There are LOTS of fun tic tac projects out there in cyberland, here is the link to the one that I used.  I modified the images so that you can print them on 6x4 paper (cut down cardstock to size) - here is the snowman (image is the perfect size for the medium Round 'n Round 1" circle squeeze punch) and the poem.  I used the standard Tic Tac pack and cut my cover to be 4 5/8" x 3", with the spine scored at 2" and 2 5/8".
 
Start by cutting and embossing the cover.  I have used my Fiskars ScrapBoss (Winter Wonderland stencil), Fiskars Mini ShapeBoss (Noel stencil) and Fiskars Texture Plate (Snowflakes) with my Fiskars Texture Tool and Fiskars Embossing Stylus.

Print off and colour the images, punch out the snowman using your small Fiskars Round 'n Round squeeze punch then mat - I used the large Fiskars Seal of Approval squeeze punch - this scalloped circle is the perfect fit!!!  Cut out the poem and mat.

I adhered the ribbon (18") to the centre line of the cover using double-sided tape then foam dotted the snowman on top for a bit of added dimension.

Here is a close up of one of the covers, where I have sanded the embossing to reveal the white snowflakes

Here is a close up of the inside, so that you can see the fun poem.  The Tic Tac pack is adhered in place with a dob of Helmar 450 Quick Dry but you could use a glue dot instead.

                                             Snowflake greetings:

Tools and materials used:

Fiskars snowflake texture plate used with the Cuttlebug.

Fiskars lace border punch

Distress ink – Faded jeans

Craft T products silver rub-on

Snowflake die-cuts with Kindyglitz and pearls

Scraps of punched paper scraps.

Textured background is done by cutting a piece of white cardstock and direct to card cover with distress ink then mist with water. Whilst the card is damp run it through your embossing machine with the Fiskars snowflake texture plate. Allow to dry them gently rub the silver rub-on over some of the embossed flakes with your finger.

Attach to a base card and layer as you choose.

It's great to see another Aussie Fiskateer take up the "Happy 10,000 Fiskateers Challenge we have going on here........love how Vicki has used her Fiskars Texture Plates and Templates as the background.......very creative...................what a nice collection of Fiskars Tools you have there Vicki.....and your Special Fiskateer Scissors make a great tail on the "y".....

Getting ready for Mother's Day

Are you ready for Mother's Day yet?

Here is a quick card and favour to make.

The window in the middle was made using the awesome Everywhere Punch with the circle cartridge.

The butterflies are the Flit On By squeeze punch. The flower is from the Flowers-1 Shape Template - for the top one, I cut out the flower then punched out the centre using the Everywhere Punch, so that the petals had the perfect curve to frame the window, just gave them a curl with a wooden skewer for dimension.

The centre of the flower with the sentiment inside the card was punched out using my XL Round 'n Round squeeze punch - the 2" was the perfect size to fit and fill the window.

Here is a pretty favour to go with the card, filled with tasty chocolates.

This is an easy peasy party favour to make - cut a 6" square of heavy paper, put strong adhesive along the bottom and one side, secure sides to make a tube then flatten the base (with the join in the middle of the back), take your embossing stylus and Lines Texture Plate to run 3-4 parallel lines across the base to make it more secure. Take your tube, fold the top in the opposite direction, punch a hole using a circle plier punch, insert some treats (or maybe some earings, necklace or pretty hanky) then tie in place with some ribbon or secure with a brad. The flower decorating the front was made by layering Oopsie Daisy squeeze punch flowers and rolling the petals.

The colours and textures of Rango

Tami had some fun challenges to celebrate the Oscars on Fiskateers.

The 1st challenge was to create a project inspired by one of the films nominated for an Oscar, with the catch being that you had to have seen the film.  After searching and searching through all the nominations I finally found one that I had seen.  Rango was nominated for and won Best Animated Feature Film.  For those of you that haven't seen it, Rango is the main character, a cute little chameleon.  Here is the card I created thanks to the colours and textures inspired by Rango.  The Fiskars Scalloped Sentiment border punch reminded me of the shape around his eyes, as did the XL Seal of Approval squeeze punch.  Put an XL Round 'n Round squeeze punch circle behind it so that the scallops had a bit more contrast.

How do you like the textures?

Dry embossing is so much fun to do.  The embossed "birthday" sentiment was done using my Fiskars Mini ShapeBoss and Embossing Stylus.

The green layers were embossed using my "Scales" Fiskars Texture Plate with the help of a Fiskars Embossing Tool and Embossing Stylus.

Next came the envelope challenge, so I created an envelope for my Rango card.  The card was too big to make an envelope for using 12x12 paper, so I was lucky to have a 6.5" square envelope in my stash and the card just fitted in.  After a bit of folding from the back, I was able to emboss the birthday boy's name on the front of the envelope using my Fiskars Mini ShapeBoss.

There are so many different stencils for embossing with your Fiskars ScrapBoss and Mini ShapeBoss and Texture Plates to suit any occasion.

Recipe for punchy rosettes

I love making rosettes - they look great on cards and layouts.

When you add some border punching they really pop!!!

Here is a card with the rosette made using the Fiskars Sunburst border punch.  The same punch was used to make the punchy paper lace - I will talk about that in a separate post.
 
Recipe for a punchy rosette:
- Fiskars "Lines" texture plate or a specific scoring system
- Embossing stylus
- strong double sided tape or fast drying adhesive
- Border punch
- paper or card stock for the base colour of the rosette
- paper or card stock for the top punched layer
- circle of card stock for to go underneath the bottom of the rosette, where the layers are adhered to (I use the Large Fiskars Circle squeeze punch as it gives plenty of space for the ridges of the rosette to stick to)
- strong, fast drying adhesive (I use Helmars 450 Quick Dry) to adhere your rosette to the base circle

Cut a strip of paper for your base and top layers - the wider the strip, the bigger the rosette.  For the rosette above, the strips were 1 1/4" wide and 12" long (just over 3cmx30cm).  A4 strips also make a good sized rosette.
Take the top layer strip and punch out using your favourite border punch (hopefully it is Fiskars).
Place your punched strip on your Lines template and score the low parts of the border punch pattern - these will be the valleys of your rosette.  Turn the strip over and score the high parts of the pattern to make the peaks.  The photo below shows a shortcut that I tried where I adhered the top punched layer to the base then scored the fold lines together.  Note: I thought is was a good idea but when you turn it over you can't see the border pattern, so I had to score all on the front side - it just made it a bit more fiddly to fold the peaks and valleys.
 
 
Once you have the strip folded you need to trim the end so that the pattern matches.  Make sure that you have the border punch pattern of peak=>valley section trimmed to adhere to the valley=>peak section for a neater finish.  Place strong double sided tape on section that will be underneath and secure so that it makes a ring.
 
Place adhesive on your base circle (and no, don't do this on your self healing cutting mat - it does not like getting messed up with globs of glue) and carefully flatten your rosette on to the circle, adjusting to make a neat shape before the glue sets.
 
Hold your your rosette in place until the glue has set then take a brad, button or some numbers like I have used here to cover little hole in the middle.
 
You can put the layers flat against each other or make individual rosettes then layer them on top of each other for extra dimension like in the ones below made using Fiskars Threading Water border punch.
 
This card used the Fiskars Lattice border punch
 
This one used the Fiskars Effervescence border punch
 
This card uses the Fiskars Lace border punch.  The paper was a little brittle and had white marks along the peak folds => a touch of glue and a sprinkle of glitter and all is quickly fixed.
 
 
There are so many different border punches that make for fabulous rosettes, one for every occasion.

Novelty Business Card holders

A friend of mine wanted something different for her business cards so that her business stuck out from everyone elses in her field of work.... catering. So I made these for her.

I used:

• Fiskars Fabric texture plate with texurising tool
• Fiskars cutting mat with Ultra shape express and circle template
• Fiskars boarder punches - grass and apron lace
• Fiskars finger craft knife
• Fiskars brown ink pad

Looky what Tracy spotted in Frankston Spotlight

Tracy was playing store detective last week in Frankston Spotlight and look what she spotted!

So many of the NEW Fiskars Lever Punches and Fiskars Everywhere Punches along with heaps of other Fiskars Tools........................she also said that the store had some specials happening on certain tools......so well worth a visit if you live in the area.

Nice to see such a great range of the Border Punches and also a few Embossing Border Punches.

Looks like they also have a great range of the Embossing Texture Plates and Cardboss Systems.

Is that a NEW Guillotine I spy?  I also spy some Christmas Stamps up on the shelves...ooh la la!!!

Kidzors - Have you seen these?

I spotted these first in Spotlight Bayswater last week and then again today in SPOTLIGHT BAIRNSDALE.

How cute are these!! The kids will love having their own pair....I've got to have some to put away for SAM.....he's not even 2 yet....but it won't be long and he'll be able to cut with scissors as he is so keen to learn new tricks each and every day......I was surprised by the range of Kids Scissors that Spotlight now have on range.................looky what else I spotted today....hanging on those Spotlight shelves...the NEW LEVER and CORNER LEVER PUNCHES......woohoo...............

Funny thing was that whilst I was taking these pics....a customer dropped by to ask for help with some Fiskars Templates.....can you imagine her surprise when I said who I was and what I was doing in the store......LOL!  So after a few minutes of chatting and talking about what this lady was looking for with her son......we settled on the mixed set of Fiskars Templates......so another happy customer today!

This in turn led to a discussion about the Ultra Shape Express and the Fiskars Craft Mat.....as an extension for using the product that she had purchased today.....one happy lady and child!

It's great to see these smaller SPOTLIGHT stores like Bairnsdale taking a greater range of Fiskars Tools

......crafters in EAST GIPPSLAND are going to be in their element now shopping for Fiskars Tools!!

I'm spending a few days crafting with my good friend Kay this week....we are creating a fun Christening Card tomorrow and some other fun BABY PROJECTS.....as we are both grand parents now...started some painting with Kaisercraft paints this afternoon....ooh love getting all messy when I'm having fun and immersing myself in crafting for pleasure!!!  I have mess spread all over the place.....but it sure is fun.....LOL!
