The Card Purse.....

By now you know that I love giving out random pressies to the ladies at church and this week was no exeception.

I found a great tutorial on how to make a card purse on line (via Pinterest) and decided to give it a go.

Here is what I made from that tutorial.... I love learning from others, new ways to do things. I'm constantly watching tutorials on you tube and looking at crafters blogs. It helps keep me fresh and my mojo doesn't go on holiday.

The base of my purse outside was cereal boxes instead of chipboard. Basically the same thing anyway. ;)

The green cardstock is from Stampin Up!
The patterned papers are from Wherehouse Stationery - Grace Taylor vintage elegance scrapbook kit.
My own handmade pink/white tissue paper twine. My Tutorial vid is here.

Layered Heart Card with tutorial

Hi all

Gosh its hot here in Christchurch, New Zealand!
And yes the ground is still shaking here but only small 3 pointers and under and is hardly noticable. Last weekend we had a 4.6 though and the only thought I had was that it could have waited till I had the DVD on that I was going to watch.... a shake during a battle scene has an awesome 4D effect!

No its not scarey to me here anymore. The kids also shrug it all off. But we are the lucky ones. There are still people having massive problems with EQC and Insurance companies. Not to mention the center of the city is still closed and broken. Buildings are being demolished still and cleared. Orientation is hard especially when we had relyed on buildings as land marks that are no longer there.

Putting that aside everything is right and dandy.... Hot weather for summer. My kids will be going to school next week so I really can't wait till that happens. LOL

But here is a card I decided to put together (i had a spare few minutes).

The layered heart card was put together as follows:
1. take out three sheets of red paper (thin paper) and trim the paper just under the size of the front of the card

2. Then cut a heart using the fiskars Ultra shape express and heart template with the self healing mat to protect your work surface in the middle of each.

3. Take one of these pieces, from the wrong side use your fiskars Shapeboss and sample template - and emboss using the stylus.

4. lightly sand all the embossed hearts etc with a sanding block

5. stick together all red layers

6. stick down all red layers to black cardstock

7. use black paper twine or twine to make a bow in front

8. you are done!

39 years TODAY

Can you believe that Rod and I have been married for 39 years TODAY!

Where have all those years gone? To think that 39 years ago today.....January 1974 it was a scorching hot 39 degrees...and I still to this day remember the sweat pooring off the face of the Minister who married us......LOL!

It was nice to get out my trusty Fiskars Tools and whip up this very last minute card last night...........hope he likes it!

Mum and Dad Layout

Hello all!

Is megga busy here in New Zealand. Kids are on holiday and yet again I'm always inviting their friends around and no-one is reciplicating.... its an annoying fact but I don't get a day off. The countdown begins - 4 weeks to go! They go back on the 2nd Feb! agggh.... why are these holidays so long?

I am also preparing for Ethans Starwars Theme birthday party.... details will be on my personal blog soon.

Here is a layout I did using Kaiser craft Miss Match Collection. Its such a great collection of goodies!
I am still carrying on with my A4 size scrapbooking too this year.

The colours and patterns are so inspirational. Love it.

I used the "Up in the clouds" cartridge with the interchangeable boarder punch.
The rose part was used only on the corners of the mat of "the coming up roses" punch.

New Year’s Eve: Kid Style

One of my favorite childhood memories is staying up late to ring in the new year.

It seemed so grown up and exciting!

This year you can help the new generation make those memories even more special by hosting a family friendly party. With simple and colorful decorations, dressed-up games, and fun accessories, you can’t go wrong.
 
First, set the stage with bright colors and a little sparkle. Tulle pom poms are easy to make and cost-effective. They can be either hanging or table-top decorations.

To make the pom poms, start with two yards of tulle (add more tulle for larger or fuller pom poms). Using Fiskars scissors, cut down the fold of the fabric. After doing so, there will be two pieces of tulle the same size – one on top of the other.

With the layers of fabric together, fold the fabric back and forth – accordion style. For larger pom poms, made the folds wider.

Once folded, keeps the folds on the top and bottom edges. Gather the fabric (open edges) from each side and tie tightly in the center.

Cut the folded edges apart with Fiskars scissors. Then pull all the layers apart to create a full pom pom. Add self-adhesive jewels to the tulle for a bit of sparkle.

A party wouldn’t be a party without costumes, right? Buy glittery top hats at a party supply store and add handcrafted accents.

Cut a 12 inch long strip of paper (width can vary) with the Fiskars SureCut Deluxe Craft Trimmer (12"). Using the paper trimmer or Fiskars scissors, make even vertical cuts the length of the paper (do not cut the strip all the way through; leave approximately a quarter of an inch uncut along the top of the paper). Roll the paper up from one side to the other. Open the cut ends and then tuck the paper roll behind the ribbon band added to the party hat.

Keep the party going with a dressed-up game. Try Bingo with punched shape markers. Simply punch stars and moons from pre-glittered paper using the Starry Night Lever Punch and Medium Twinkle Twinkle Squeeze Punch.

And before you ring in the new year, don’t forget to commemorate the past year in a time capsule. Buy a clear jar and add a band of patterned paper inside the jar. Embellish the paper with Diamond Edge Border Punch and back it another band of contrasting paper before placing it inside. Then let the party goers each add pictures, notes, and other items that represent the year.

Last minute Thank you Cards and Matching Tags

Are you stuck for time this Christmas but want to make some handmade cards and tags?

They have FREE downloadables.......such as these for making quick and easy Gift Cards and Tags.

So thought I'd share here with you all............time can be taken up with other things at this time of the year......or maybe you have forgotten someone....these would also be great for Teachers Gifts.

So grab yourself a craft bag.....most of us probably have at least one of these around the home...and some ribbons or embellishments from your stash....maybe a Christmas decoration like I have used...it came off some chocolates that I was given last year...so I'm re-gifting it....

The tags could also be used as a Bookmark! So surf the net if you are stuck for time....there are so many great projects around this time of the year......Jolly Allsorts

Three great companies - mixing it up

Ooh I had fun creating this Card for a wonderful friend...using my Fiskars Seasonal Punches.

    I'm so lucky to have been sent these by Rebecca Peck last year......and I love using them for Christmas!    Thanks Rebecca.....you know how much I love my Fiskars Punches!

I love using the Stampin Up Christmas Stamps and combining them with my Fiskars Tools......and to finish this card off I also added one of the gorgeous chipboard Reindeer from Scrapmatts! You know how much I love to doodle on my projects.....well I just had to get out my Signo White Gel Pen and colour the reindeer eye,feet and nose......LOL!

Making cards give me so much pleasure....it's great therapy......especially this time of the year!

Card a Day - Re-purpose, re-cycle (tutorial)

Do you sometimes get given  cards that you just want to keep sharing with others? I do!

So sometimes I re-cycle...and re-purpose them.......such as this card above!

I 'll show you how I did this.

It all started when we were sent this THANK YOU Card by our family recently.

It was such a pretty little thank you card...

I just loved this Card with the colours and cute butterfly...so I grabbed by Fiskars Trimmer

Found a piece of white cardstock in my craft supplies......

......and measureed it so that it was slightly wider than the Little Thank you Card......all the way around.

Then I put some liquid adhesive....my good old Helmar 450 underneath the front flap to hold it down securely and next I added some more underneath the little card......and between the white cardstock.

You could use double sided tape to do the same thing.

So now I have a NEW Card to keep this GIVING going......quick and easy....
