BOM Prompt - May 7th

Hi there!

Today's prompt is to look at your childhood and remember those special hiding spots you may have had.

My sisters and I had a wonderful one. We moved house and the new house had a cool cupboard which was really deep and it had a lazy susan type draw in it.

We used to climb in over Mums cooking tools and hide in the back of it.

I don't have a photo of that cupboard, or even the kitchen - not to hand anyway. So I decided to create a LO without a photo. At the end of the LO, I decided a photo of me now, wouldn't hurt. So I added that too.

But it goes to show that you don't need photos of these memories. The most important thing is to get them down.

Hope thinking about this, brings back some of your own childhood memories.....

Note: In the weekend I went to a crop and sat next to some very talented ladies Kate Mills and Rachel Tucker. They were both using ribbon, twisting and curling it. I have been inspired by them to do the same on my LO. Thanks ladies!

My first LO - Trina McClune

My first LO was actually done in a class. We didn't have a set project to fulfil, but were taught how to mat photos. You could see I really got into it! LOL.

 

I can still remember how horrified the teachers were to see me using 'heritage' photos. Probably not the best move I've made. LOL.

Things have changed considerably since then, but I like to see the progression in how I scrap. So I won't ever be changing these early LO's. Besides which I just don't have time! Eeeeek.

A 'class' by Trina for NSD

Hi everyone. Happy National Scrapbook Day!

As you read this I'm at a luxury scrapbooking weekend in a gorgeous town in the middle of the North Island. I'm so lucky!

Anyway, as its a very special scrapping day today we thought you might like a free class. Yep, you read right. Below is a picture of a LO I've created just for today plus instructions on how it was put together.

Supplies you’ll need: 

Threading water punch

Trimmer

Finger craft knife

Heidi Grace Sweetest Bug patterned paper & 3D stickers

Tim Holtz Distressed ink 

·         Use the threading water punch to create a border along the bottom of your photo

·         Then cut out a few patterns that you’d like to use from a second piece of patterned paper

·         Work out where your photo is going to be, draw a rough outline in pencil on your PP

·         Use the distressed ink to make a pattern under the photo

·         Cut around the flowers so you can pop the bottom right corner of your photo under them

·         Place your pieces of pattern under the bottom right corner of your photo

·         Place the photo on top and stitch on.

·         Stitch along the bottom of the page to form a pattern in the ‘grass’

·         Cut out some additional ladybirds, and use the 3D stickers to make parts of the page ‘pop’ more

·         Sprinkle silver butterflies around the page and stamp your title across the page (if you wish, you can stamp or handwrite some journaling around the edge of the photo)

·         Finally use an Ink by Steph stamp across the bottom right corner of the photo

·         You are done!

 

Saturday Sketch day

Hi everyone. We're back this week with another sketch, just for you.

And now that winter is starting to close in on us, its nice to spend some time inside recording your families history. Perhaps this sketch will help you create something quickly and easily.

 

This sketch allows you to choose what type of photo you want and how many. Perhaps you'll choose a very large one to underpin everything. Or a couple of longer thin ones to be accentuated by the papers around them, or even a small circular one? The beauty of such a sketch is you can make it your own.

Unfortunately I've been ill with pneumonia, then an unexpected visit to the hospital with back and heart problems so I'm taking a week off.

Hi everyone,

Today my fellow Aussie Lead Ambassador DAWN STAN is celebrating her 40th birthday and we thought we'd celebrate all day with Dawn by sharing the many birthday cards that some of the Australian Ambassadors and Demonstrators as well as some of our New Zealand Ambassadors have created especially for YOU Dawn!

So Dawn......we hope you have a great birthday today........from all at FISKARS!

ENJOY your day.....it was an absolute pleasure spending time with you and your family tonight........the 3 hour drive over was well worth it girl....to see your mum ,dad and sister again there to surprise you......traveling down from Brisbane.....was just the best night.....

I have only just arrived home after spending the evening with Dawn and her family and many friends at a lovely party at the Stan family home in Dales Creek. it was a lovely evening with lots of laughs.....lots of kids playing and having fun......lots of yummy food mostly cooked by Dawn herself.......and yes........I did sneak in a few pics.......so I'll be sharing some today here on the Blog.....along with many,many cards ......we hope you may be inspired as you see the gorgeous cards the girls have created.......an easy way to see them all is to click on the link below this post that says "Dawn's 40th".....he,he....I added in another category......to make it easy to back track missed cards for Dawn.....LOL!
